β-CD, 3-amino-3-deoxy-β-CD and 1-(p-toluenesulfonyl)imidazole were obtained from Tokyo Chemical Industry Co., Ltd. 10,12-Pentacosadiynoic (PCDA), 1-adamantanecarboxylic acid, ammonium chloride, and chloroform were purchased from Sigma-Aldrich Chemicals Co (St. Louis, Mo, USA). N-hydroxysuccinimide (NHS) was obtained from Fluka. N,N-Dimethylformamide (DMF) was obtained from Alfa Aesar, a Johnson Matthey Company. 1-(3-Dimethylaminopropyl)-3-ethyl carbodiimide hydrochloride (EDC) was purchased from Acros Organics, New Jersey, USA. Organic solvents such as hexane, ethyl acetate, acetone, and diethyl ether were of chromatographic purity, and the water used was triple distilled. L-arginine was purchased from Duchefa Biochemie, Haarlem, The Netherlands. Other amino acids containing L-lysine were obtained from Sigma-Aldrich Chemical Co (St. Louis, Mo, USA) and Tokyo Chemical Industry Co., Ltd.

The β-CD (97%), 1-(p-toluenesulfonyl)imidazole (98%), and baicalein (>99%) were obtained from Tokyo Chemical Industry Co., Ltd. Triethylamine (TEA), DM β-CD, l-cysteine (97%), 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH), ethanol (>99.8%) were purchased from Sigma–Aldrich Chemicals Co. The used water was triply distilled. D2O (99.96% at D) and CD3OD (99.8% at D) were from Cambridge Isotope Laboratories, Inc. (Andover, MA, USA).

Paclitaxel-Loaded β-Cyclodextrin Synthesis

Sodium azide, 1-(p-toluenesulfonyl) imidazole, and p-toluenesulfonyl chloride were purchased from Tokyo Chemical Industry (Tokyo, Japan). Triphenylphosphine (99%) and biotinamidohexanoic acid N-hydroxysuccinimide ester were purchased from Sigma Aldrich (St. Louis, MO, USA). N,N-Dimethylformamide (anhydrous, 99.8%) was obtained from Alfa Aesar (Haverhill, MA, USA), and acetone was obtained from Avantor. All other chemicals used in the study were of analytical grade.
