Garlic and Potato Acrylamide Quantification

Fresh Jinxiang garlic was provided by Sunmoon Food Company (Tai’an, China). Fresh potato was purchased from a local supermarket in Tai’an (Tai’an, China). Acrylamide (98%) was purchased from Meryer Chemical Technology Co., Ltd. (Shanghai, China). Asparagine (Asn, 99%) was obtained from Capitabio Co., Ltd. (Shanghai, China). Glucose (Glc, 99%) was obtained from Kaitong Chemical Technology Co., Ltd. (Tianjin, China). Chromatography grade methanol was supplied by Shandong Yuwang Industrial Co., Ltd. (Dezhou, China). Doubly deionized water (DDW) was obtained from a Water Pro water system (Labconco Corp., Kansas City, MO). Other chemicals used in this work were analytical grade, and all solutions were prepared in DDW.

Quantification of Antioxidant Compounds

Standards of gallic acid and TROLOX (6-hydroxy-2,5,7,8-tetramethylchroman-2-carboxylic acid) were provided from Sigma-Aldrich (Germany). As a source of free radical, DPPH (2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl, 95 %) was purchased from Sigma-Aldrich, while Folin-Ciocalteu's phenol reagent was obtained from Fluka (Switzerland). Ethanol, methanol and acetonitrile (98-100 %) HPLC grade were delivered by Merck (Germany), while hydrochloric, sulphuric, and boric acids were obtained from Kemika (Croatia). Kjeltabs Cu/3.5 (3.5 g potassium sulfate and 0.4 g cupric sulfate pentahydrate), which was used as a catalyst, was provided by Foss Tecator (Sweden). Ammonium sulphate, anhydrous sodium carbonate, sodium hydroxide, indicators bromocresol green and methyl red, acetone and petroleum ether (40-70 °C) were supplied by Kemika. Other reagents used in this work were of analytical reagent grade or higher. Ultra-pure water from a WaterPro water system Labconco (USA) with a resistivity of 18.2 MΩ cm (25 °C) was used in all experiments.

Tetracycline-Based Magnetic Biochar Synthesis

Tetracycline (TC), oxyTetracycline (OTC), doxycycline (DC), sulfamethazine (SMZ), tsumacide (TMC), methacrylic acid (MAA) and 2,2′-Azobis(2-methylpropionitrile) (AIBN) were purchased from Sigma-Aldrich (Shanghai, China). Iron trichloride (FeCl3) and ferrous chloride (FeCl2·4H2O) were obtained from Guoyao Group Chemical Reagent Co., Ltd (Shanghai, China). Divinylbenzene (DVB) was obtained from Rhawn Reagent Co., Ltd (Shanghai, China). Sodium hydrate (NaOH), Na2EDTA, methanol, ethanol, acetonitrile and formic acid were purchased from Sinopharm Chemical Reagent Co., Ltd (Shanghai, China). The straw biochar pyrolyzed at 400–450 °C was purchased from Liao Ning Golden Future Agriculture Technology Co., Ltd. (Anshan, China). All other solvents and reagents used in this study were of the highest available purity and at least of analytical grade. Doubly deionized water (DDW), obtained using WaterPro Water System (Labconco Corp., Kansas City, MO, USA), was used throughout the experiments.
