At the end of every week, mice were fasted overnight, and the fasting glucose of mice was measured with glucometer (Andon Health, Tianjin, China). Upon completion of the experiments, all rats were weighed and blood was collected from the anesthetized animals into blood collection tubes after a 12-h overnight fast. All animals were dissected under ether anesthesia at the age of 28 weeks. A fasting blood sample was taken from the abdominal aorta of each rat.
