Tga dsc 3 star system

Manufactured by Mettler Toledo
Sourced in United States, Switzerland

The TGA/DSC 3+ Star system is a thermal analysis instrument that combines Thermogravimetric Analysis (TGA) and Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) capabilities. It is designed to measure changes in the physical and chemical properties of materials as a function of temperature or time under a controlled atmosphere.

Thermal and Oxidative Behavior Analysis

The thermal transitions and the oxidation induction temperature (Tox) of the compounded pellets and injection-molded samples were assessed by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) using a Mettler-Toledo DSC 2 (Columbus, OH, USA). The samples were prepared according to [40 ] and [41 ]. The thermal transitions were measured in a nitrogen atmosphere with heating and cooling rates of 10 °C/min, and the Tox measurements were performed using air as a purging gas at a heating rate of 10 °C/min. Duplicates were made in all cases. At measuring, for the heat of fusion (ΔH), the baseline was taken from 65 to 144 °C, and the results were reported for the first heating cycles. The degree of crystallinity (Xc) was assessed as Xc = ((ΔH/(wPE-rigid × ΔH0)) × 100) (%), where wPE-rigid is the weight fraction of PE-rigid taken from the feedstock characterization for each type of material and the heat of fusion for 100% crystalline polyethylene ΔH0 taken as 293 J/g [8 (link),42 (link)].
The ash content of the ground pellets was determined by thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) using a TGA/DSC 3+ Star system from Mettler Toledo (Columbus, OH, USA), where the 3.1 ± 0.1 mg samples were heated from 25 °C to 650 °C at a rate of 10 °C/min in air at a flow rate of 50 mL/min. Duplicate measurements were performed for each type of material, and the ash content values were determined at 600 °C.

Thermal Degradation Analysis of CNC Films

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
Thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA) was used to
determine the thermal degradation onset temperatures and the residual
chars of the CNC films. Analyses were done on a TGA/DSC 3+ Star system
(Mettler Toledo, Greifensee Switzerland). Between 2 and 5 mg of each
film was placed in a 100 μL aluminum pan subjected to a heating
ramp from 25 to 500 °C at a rate of 10 °C/min under a 20
mL/min flow of nitrogen.

About PubCompare

Our mission is to provide scientists with the largest repository of trustworthy protocols and intelligent analytical tools, thereby offering them extensive information to design robust protocols aimed at minimizing the risk of failures.

We believe that the most crucial aspect is to grant scientists access to a wide range of reliable sources and new useful tools that surpass human capabilities.

However, we trust in allowing scientists to determine how to construct their own protocols based on this information, as they are the experts in their field.
