In vivo bioluminescence imaging was performed as previously described [12 (link),13 (link)]. Briefly, before acquiring images, 150 mg/kg body weight D-luciferin (Promega, Madison, WI, USA) was administered intraperitoneally to all Saa3 promoter-luc mice in both models five minutes after substrate administration using the NightOWL II Imaging Systems LB983 (Berthold Technologies, Bad Wildbad, Germany).
