Nuclear protein and cytoplasmic protein were separated using NE-PER Nuclear and Cytoplasmic Extraction Reagents (Pierce) according to manufacturer’s instructions. The concentrations of proteins in nuclear and cytoplasmic fractions were measured by BCA protein assay reagent (Pierce) and 10μg of each protein used for Western blot assay. Fractionation controls included a 14-3-3 (pan) antibody (Cell Signaling, catalogue #8312) detecting all known forms of mammalian 14-3-3 proteins and a histone H4 antibody (Cell Signaling, catalogue #2935).
