2 methylimidazole

Cetylpyridinium Chloride (CAS No. 123-03-5) was purchased from the Shanghai Yien Chemical Technology Co., Ltd. (Shanghai, China). Other reagents at analytical grade were purchased from the Sinopharm Chemical Reagent Co., Ltd. (Shanghai, China). The ZnO and 2-methylimidazole were commercially available from J&K Scientific LLC (San Jose, CA, USA). The zeolitic imidazolate framework-8 nanoparticles (ZIF-NPs) were produced via the mechanochemical reaction between ZnO and 2-methylimidazole with a molar ratio of 1:2 [24 (link)]. The ZIF-NPs were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM; SU8020, Hitachi Limited, Tokyo, Japan), which showed their shapes with 100–400 nm particle sizes (see Supplementary Figure S1). The enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) kits for assaying the reactive oxygen species (ROS), total superoxide dismutase (T-SOD), glutathione (GSH), catalase (CAT), and malondialdehyde (MDA) were purchased from the Bomei Biotechnology Co., Ltd. (Hefei, Anhui, China).

2-propanol-d₈ (99%), KBr (99.95%), (E)-benzalacetone, (E)-4-(furan-2-yl)but-3-en-2-one (98.0%), 1,3-diphenyl-propen-3-one (97%), 1-propenylbenzene (96%), 4-phenyl-1-butene were acquired from Shanghai Aladdin Biochemical Technology Co., Ltd. 2-methylimidazole (99%), 1-propanol (99.5%), (E)-3-(2-furanyl)-2-propenal (98%), cinnamyl alcohol (98%) were purchased from J&K Scientific Ltd. Methanol (99.7%), ethanol (99.7%), 2-propanol (99.8%), pyridine (99.5%), benzyl alcohol were acquired from Concord Technology (Tianjin) Co., Ltd. KSCN (99.5%), (E)-1-phenyl-1-butene (97%), triphenylmethane (99%), cinnamaldehyde (98%) were purchased from Shanghai Macklin Biochemical Co., Ltd. 1-butanol (99.5%), triphenylMethanol (99%),dodecane (99%), boric acid (99.5%), Zn(NO₃)₂·6H₂O, propylbenzene (99%), allylbenzene (98%), chitosan (99%) were acquired from Beijing InnoChem Science & Technology Co., Ltd. Cinnamyl acetate (97%) was acquired from TCI (Shanghai) Development Co., Ltd. 3-phenyl-1-propanol (98%) was purchased from Adamas-Beta. 4-hydroxy-3-methoxycinnamaldehyde (97%) was acquired from Sigma-Aldrich. t-butanol was purchased from Alfa Aesar. Nitrogen (99.99%), argon (99.99%) and hydrogen (99.99%) were provided by Beijing Analytic Instrument Company. All reagents were directly used without further purification.

The zeolitic imidazolate framework-8 nanoparticles (ZIF-8 NPs) were produced via the mechanochemical reaction [32 (link)] between ZnO and 2-methylimidazole (J&K Scientific LLC, San Jose, CA, USA) with a molar ratio of 1:2 and particle sizes of 100–400 nm [33 (link)]. Other chemical reagents (analytical grade) were purchased from Sinopharm Chemical Reagent Co., Ltd. (Shanghai, China). In addition, the enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) kits for assaying fish SOD, CAT, GST, and malonaldehyde (MDA) were purchased from Yanjin Biological Technology Co., Ltd. (Shanghai, China).

The materials and reagents are as follows: 2-Methylimidazole (99%, J&K, Beijing, China), thiourea (99%, J&K, Beijing, China), potassium bromide (99%, J&K, Beijing, China), zinc dihydrate acetate (99%, J&K, Beijing, China), sodium sulfate (99%, J&K, Beijing, China), disodium ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA) (99%, J&K, Beijing, China), benzoquinone (99%, J&K, Beijing, China), methanol (≥99.7%, J&K, Beijing, China), isopropanol (99.5%, J&K, Beijing, China), Rhodamine B (96%, J&K, Beijing, China), anhydrous ethanol (≥99.7%, Fuyu chemical, Tianjin, China), cobalt nitrate hexahydrate (98%, Damao chemical reagent factory, Tianjin, China), and cadmium acetate dihydrate (99%, Thermo Fisher Scientific, Waltham, MA, USA). The ITO slides are purchased from Luoyang Guluo Glas Co., Ltd. (Luoyang, China).
