Vero cells opti sfm

Manufactured by Thermo Fisher Scientific
Sourced in United States

Vero cells (OPTI-SFM) are a type of cell line derived from the kidney of the African green monkey. They are commonly used in cell culture and research applications. The OPTI-SFM medium is a serum-free formulation designed to support the growth and maintenance of Vero cells.

The M1 and GFP-labeled M1 used in this study were grown in Vero cells (OPTI- SFM, 12309-019, Thermo Fisher, Waltham, MA). Viral titers in BHK-21 cells were determined via TCID50 assay and converted to PFUs.

Culturing Cells for Virus Development

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
The cells were cultured at 37°C, 5% CO2, and complemented with 10% (v/v) fetal bovine serum plus 1% penicillin/streptomycin (Life Technologies, China). Cell lines were purchased from the American Type Culture Collection (Maryland, USA) and the Shanghai Institute of Cell Biology. All cell lines used in this study were listed in Supplementary Table. M1 virus was developed in Vero cells (OPTI-SFM, 12309-019, Thermo Fisher, USA) and collected for experiments. M1 virus titers were detected by TCID50 assay by utilizing BHK-21 cells. The data were converted to plaque-forming units (PFU) according to the converting equation from ATCC (https://www.atcc.org/en/Global/FAQs/4/8/Converting_TCID50_to_plaque_forming_units_PFU-124.aspx) that was TCID50 titer (per mL) by 0.7 to predict the mean number of PFU.

About PubCompare

Our mission is to provide scientists with the largest repository of trustworthy protocols and intelligent analytical tools, thereby offering them extensive information to design robust protocols aimed at minimizing the risk of failures.

We believe that the most crucial aspect is to grant scientists access to a wide range of reliable sources and new useful tools that surpass human capabilities.

However, we trust in allowing scientists to determine how to construct their own protocols based on this information, as they are the experts in their field.
