C57bl 6 tg ubc gfp

Manufactured by Jackson ImmunoResearch
Sourced in United States

The C57BL/6-Tg [UBC-GFP] is a transgenic mouse strain that expresses green fluorescent protein (GFP) under the control of the ubiquitin C (UBC) promoter. This strain is useful for visualizing and tracking cells and tissues in various experimental settings.

Mouse Acquisition and Genotyping Protocol

Eight- to ten-week-old C57BL/6J mice were purchased from CLEA Japan, Inc. (Osaka, Japan). C57BL/6-Tg (UBC-GFP) and 30Scha/J (GFP-Tg) mice were purchased from The Jackson Laboratory (Bar Harbor, ME, USA). Langerin-diphtheria toxin receptor (DTR) mice were gifted by Prof Kabashima of Kyoto University after the approval of the founder, Dr Bernard Malissen27 (link). B6;129P-Ccr4tm1pwr/J mice were obtained from Dr Nakamura’s laboratory23 (link). Mice were genotyped using polymerase chain reaction (PCR) with tail DNA and the primers shown in Supplementary Table 1. For the in vivo experiments, mice were anesthetized with 1.5% isoflurane (Wako Co., Tokyo, Japan) using an inhalation gas anesthesia system for small laboratory animals.

Standardized Murine Husbandry Protocol

Animals were maintained at a controlled temperature, humidity, and on a 12-h light/dark cycle. Each cage contained a maximum of 5 mice and was supplied with ventilation and irradiated bedding (1/8-in. Bed O’s Cobs, The Anderson, Maumee, OH). Sterilized food (PicoLab Rodent diet 5053, LabDiet, St. Louis, MO) and water were freely accessible in the cages. Male and female mice aged 3–4 months, C57BL/6 or GFP transgenic mice (C57BL/6-Tg (UBC-GFP), Jackson Laboratories, Bar Harbor, ME) were used.

Ocular Procedures in C57BL/6J Mice

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
All animal studies were conducted under protocols approved by the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committees at Indiana University and the University of Florida and in accordance with guidelines set forth by the National Institutes of Health and the Statement for the Use of Animals in Ophthalmic and Visual Research of the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology. Adult (7- to 10-week-old) female C57BL/6J mice and homozygous GFP transgenic (C57BL/6-Tg [UBC-GFP]) were purchased from Jackson Laboratories. For ocular injections and electroretinography, mice were anesthetized by ketamine (72 mg/kg)/xylazine (4 mg/kg) intraperitoneal injection with topical anesthesia using proparacaine hydrochloride. Mice were euthanized by isoflurane in a desiccation chamber in the fume hood flowing by cervical dislocation.

All mouse experiments were conducted under protocols approved by the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committees at Indiana University (IACUC 11155) and University of Alabama at Birmingham (IACUC 20912) and in accordance with guidelines set forth by National Institutes of Health and the Statement for the Use of Animals in Ophthalmic and Visual Research of the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology. Adult (8-week-old) female C57BL/6J mice and homozygous GFP transgenic (C57BL/6-Tg [UBC-GFP]) were purchased from Jackson Laboratories. At the end of the experiments, mice were euthanized by isoflurane in a desiccation chamber followed by cervical dislocation.

C57BL/6J wild-type (Wt) and C57BL/6-Tg(UBC-GFP) mice were purchased from The Jackson Laboratory and established as a colony since 2001 and 2017, respectively. Mice were randomly assigned to treatments or experimental groups. All animal studies were approved by the Animal Care and Use Committee of the Veneto Institute of Molecular Medicine and by the Italian Health Ministry.

About PubCompare

Our mission is to provide scientists with the largest repository of trustworthy protocols and intelligent analytical tools, thereby offering them extensive information to design robust protocols aimed at minimizing the risk of failures.

We believe that the most crucial aspect is to grant scientists access to a wide range of reliable sources and new useful tools that surpass human capabilities.

However, we trust in allowing scientists to determine how to construct their own protocols based on this information, as they are the experts in their field.
