C3h hej

Manufactured by CLEA Japan
Sourced in Japan

The C3H/HeJ is a laboratory mouse strain that is widely used in biomedical research. As a core function, this strain is characterized by a genetic mutation that makes it hyporesponsive to lipopolysaccharide, a component of the outer membrane of Gram-negative bacteria. This strain is commonly used to study the immune system and host-pathogen interactions.

Ethical Animal Experiments for EGFP Mice

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
All animal experiments were conducted in accordance with the NIH Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals (U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Public Health Services, National Institute of Health, NIH publication no. 86–23, 1985)34 , and approved by the Ethical Committee for Animal Experiments at the University of Tokyo. EGFP-overexpressing C57BL/6 mice (C57BL/6-Tg (CAG-EGFP)) were purchased from Japan SLC Inc. C3H/HeN and C3H/HeJ mice were purchased from CLEA Japan. All mice were allowed access to feed and water ad libitum.

C57BL/6J, C3H/HeJ and C3H/HeN mice were purchased from Clea Japan (Tokyo, Japan). The genetic background of the genetically engineered mice used was C57BL/6J. Il6−/− (IL-6-KO), Cd19-Cre, Jh−/− (Jh-KO) and C57BL/6-Ly5.1 mice were purchased from Jackson Laboratory (Bar Harbor, ME, USA); mice with homozygous Cd19 deficiency (Cd19cre/cre) were used as Cd19−/− mice. Myd88−/− (Myd88-KO), Ticam−/− (Trif-KO) and Tlr4−/− (TLR4-KO) mice were purchased from Oriental BioService (Kyoto, Japan). Fcα/μR−/− (Fcα/μR-KO) mice were generated in our laboratory, as previously described, and backcrossed onto the C57BL/6 genetic background for 12 generations. Only female mice between the ages of 8 weeks and 12 weeks were used for the experiments. All experiments were performed in accordance with the guidelines of the animal ethics committee of the University of Tsukuba Animal Research Center.

Murine Behavioral Study Protocols

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
All animal experiments were approved by the Animal Research Committee of the RIKEN BioResource Center and were performed in accordance with RIKEN guidelines for animal experiments. Three laboratory mouse strains, C57BL/6J, C3H/HeJ, and DBA/2J, were purchased from a commercial breeder (CLEA Japan, Inc., Japan) and maintained in our facility (RIKEN BioResource Center Research Building for Animal Models of Human Disease). All mice were maintained at constant room temperature (23 °C ± 2 °C) and humidity (55 ± 10%) under a light/dark cycle of 12/12 h in a specific pathogen-free (SPF) environment. The pathogens were specified in categories A and B of the International Council for Laboratory Animal Science. Mice were weaned between the ages of 4 and 5 weeks. Mice had ad libitum access to water and conventional chow diet, CA-1 (CLEA Japan, Inc., Japan).

About PubCompare

Our mission is to provide scientists with the largest repository of trustworthy protocols and intelligent analytical tools, thereby offering them extensive information to design robust protocols aimed at minimizing the risk of failures.

We believe that the most crucial aspect is to grant scientists access to a wide range of reliable sources and new useful tools that surpass human capabilities.

However, we trust in allowing scientists to determine how to construct their own protocols based on this information, as they are the experts in their field.
