Blood Cell Isolation and Phenotyping

Blood was obtained by tail bleeding. Red blood cell lysis was performed by three consecutive incubations in RBC lysis buffer (0.15 M NH₄Cl = 1 mM NaHCO₃ in dH₂O) for 5′. Lymphocytes were counted and subjected to viability staining (Fixable Aqua Dead Cell staining, Life Technologies, #L34957) and subsequently to receptor Fc blockade (BD).
