Sodium carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC, Mw = 250 kDa) with the degrees of substitution (DS) of 0.7, 0.9 and 1.2 was purchased from Acros Organics (New Jersey, USA). AO/EB, 4′,6-diamidino-2-phenylindole (DAPI), 3-(4,5-dimethyl-2-thiazolyl)-2,5-diphenyl-2-H-tetrazolium bromide (MTT), and phosphate-buffered saline (PBS) were purchased from Heart Biological Technology CO., Ltd. (Xi'an, China). RPMI-1640 basal medium and fetal bovine serum (FBS) were purchased from HyClone (USA). The annexin V-FITC/PI apoptosis detection kit was obtained from Shanghai BestBio Institute (Shanghai, China). Other chemicals were of analytical grade and used without further purification. Aqueous solutions were prepared with ultrapure water (18.2 MΩ specific resistance), which was obtained from the Pall Cascada laboratory water system (Millipore, Bedford, MA, USA).

Manganese Spinel Ferrite Synthesis
