The following chemicals were purchased from different manufacturers: nystatin (Pharma Nostra, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil), fluconazole (Fagron, São Paulo, Brazil), ethanol (AlphaTec®, Santo André, Brazil), hexane, dichloromethane, and ethyl acetate (Cromato Produtos Químicos®, Diadema, Brazil), Sabouraud Dextrose Broth (Acumedia, San Bernardino, CA, USA), and Fetal Bovine Serum (Gibco®, São Paulo, Brazil). Dimethylsulphoxide (DMSO), crystal violet, RPMI 1640 (Roswell Park Memorial Institute Medium, Buffalo, New York), and MOPS (3-[N-Morpholino] propane sulfonic acid) were purchased from Sigma-Aldrich Co. (St. Louis, MI, USA). RPMI1640 medium (without NaHCO3 and with L-glutamine) was buffered with 0.165 M of MOPS to pH 7.4.

Antimicrobial Silver Sulfadiazine-Chitosan Films

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
Silver sulfadiazine (AgSD) was obtained from J.P.N. Phamar PVT Ltd. (Mumbai, India). NaY zeolite was used with a particle size of 0.054 mm (Fábrica Carioca de Catalisadores, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil). Ammonium hydroxide was supplied by Sigma-Aldrich (São Paulo, Brazil). Commercial chitosan (deacetylation of approximately 82% and molar mass of about 1.47 × 105 g/mol) was supplied by Polymar (Fortaleza, Brazil) and used for the film preparation without prior purification. For antimicrobial tests, strains of Escherichia coli (ATCC 8739), Staphylococcus aureus (ATCC 6538), Pseudomonas aeruginosa (ATCC 9027) and Candida albicans (ATCC 10231) were used. Tryptic Soy Broth-Soybean-Casein Digest Medium (BactoTM) and Sabouraud Dextrose Broth (Acumedia, Indaiatuba, SP, Brazil) were used as culture broth to grow the microorganisms.

About PubCompare

Our mission is to provide scientists with the largest repository of trustworthy protocols and intelligent analytical tools, thereby offering them extensive information to design robust protocols aimed at minimizing the risk of failures.

We believe that the most crucial aspect is to grant scientists access to a wide range of reliable sources and new useful tools that surpass human capabilities.

However, we trust in allowing scientists to determine how to construct their own protocols based on this information, as they are the experts in their field.
