COVID-19 Infection Factors and ICU Admission

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
Discrete variables are expressed as frequencies and percentages. Continuous variables with normal distribution are expressed as means (standard deviation); variables with no normal distribution are expressed as median (interquartile ranges). Categorical variables are presented in counts (percentages) and were evaluated through the Chi-square test. For continuous variables with normal distribution, the t Student test was performed, and for variables with no normal distribution Wilcoxon-Mann-Whitney test was used. Multivariate logistic regression was performed to determine those factors associated with ICU admission due to COVID-19. To apply this model, variables that had supporting literature, biological plausibility, and a p-value of <0.2 in the bivariate analysis were included in the model. Statistical significance was set at p<0.05. All statistical analysis was carried out in IBM SPSS 27 for MAC.

Generalizability analysis of psychometric data

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
Statistical analyses were performed using IBM SPSS 27 for Mac (IBM, Corp, Armonk, NY) while confirmatory facto analysis was performed using an IBM SPSS Amos 26 (IBM, Corp, Armonk, NY). To calculate generalizability coefficients, we utilized G-String IV software (available at https://healthsci.mcmaster.ca/merit/research/g_string_v). We used descriptive statistics of mean, standard deviation (SD), frequencies, and percentages to summarize the data.

Statistical Analysis of Clinical Outcomes

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
Computational and statistical analysis was performed using SPSS 27 for Mac (IBM Corp. Released 2020. IBM SPSS Statistics for Mac 27.0.; 64bit; Armonk, NY, USA). Qualitative and quantitative values are presented as relative and absolute frequencies as well as mean and standard deviation. t‐Test for two independent samples was used to compare means between two independent groups. Values not showing a normal distribution were compared using Mann–Whitney U‐tests for two independent groups. With the help of χ2‐test, Fischer exact test and univariate analysis of a linear model we compared relative frequencies between independent groups. Survival was evaluated by Kaplan–Meier analyses. Cox regression analysis for relapse‐free and overall survival using known risk factors (age, metastasis, tumor volume after preoperative chemotherapy, and histology) together with route to diagnosis were performed. Two‐sided significance was defined as p < 0.05 for all statistical tests. We did not account for the issue of multiple statistical testing due to the explorative nature of the investigation. Thus, we report raw, two‐sided p‐values.

Comparing Ventilation Effectiveness Between Training Methods

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
We tested for differences in the fraction of correct ventilations (VTe) between sessions (skills- or simulation training) by making cross tabulations. To examine the direction of potential differences, we made box and whisker plots and bar charts. Continuous variables were compared between sessions with Mann-Whitney U non-parametric test. Categorical variables are presented as numbers with percent and continuous variables as median with interquartile range (IQR). P-values are 2-sided and significance level < 0.05. Statistical analyses were performed with IBM SPSS 27 for Mac (IBM Corporation, Armonk, NY, United States).

Analyzing Hearing Impairment's Impact on Child Thriving

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
First, characteristics of the children with and without hearing impairment were performed by descriptive statistics. Second, frequency tables were produced to examine the distribution of hearing impairment and the three outcome variables stratified by gender. Third, binary logistic regression was used to analyse the statistical association between hearing impairment and the outcome variables on thriving. Odds-ratio (OR) and 95% confidential intervals were calculated. p < 0,05 was considered statistically significant. All analyses were stratified by gender and were performed using SPSS 27 for Mac.

Diagnostic Accuracy and Prediction Model

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
Continuous variables were described as median and 25–75% interquartile range (IQR), and for categorical variables, absolute and relative numbers were presented. Continuous variables were compared using the Mann–Whitney U test and categorical variables were compared using chi-square tests. The overall diagnostic test accuracy was assessed by receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves as summarized by the AUROC. In order to assess the performance of the prediction model, calibration curves (plotting observed versus predicted events) were performed, consistent with recommended best practices [14 (link)]. Estimates of diagnostic test accuracy (sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value (PPV), negative predictive value (NPV) and likelihood-ratios) were calculated using standard methods. Youden J statistics providing the optimal cut-off between sensitivity and specificity was calculated. To investigate the impact of variables on the time to death over 30 days from the time of hospitalization, Cox proportional hazards models were fit. For data management and analyses we used MS Excel 2008 for Mac (Microsoft Corp., Redmond, WA, USA), SPSS 27 for Mac (SPSS, Inc. Chicago, IL), and STATA 15.1/IC (College Station, TX). All p values reported are two-sided and p < 0.05 was considered as significant.

About PubCompare

Our mission is to provide scientists with the largest repository of trustworthy protocols and intelligent analytical tools, thereby offering them extensive information to design robust protocols aimed at minimizing the risk of failures.

We believe that the most crucial aspect is to grant scientists access to a wide range of reliable sources and new useful tools that surpass human capabilities.

However, we trust in allowing scientists to determine how to construct their own protocols based on this information, as they are the experts in their field.
