(Beijing, China) and maintained in an air-conditioned room with 12 h light/12 h dark cycles. Food and water were unlimited. Male SPF Wistar rats (N = 168, weight 140 ± 10 g) were provided by Beijing Vital River Laboratory Animal Technology Co., Ltd., production license No. SCXK (Beijing) 2012-0001. The research protocol was approved by the Animal Ethics Committee of Guang’anmen Hospital of China Academy of Chinese Medicine (No. 2015EC035-02). In accordance with the Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals of the National Institutes of Health (Bethesda, MD, USA), they were raised indoors by the Animal Feeding Center of Guang’anmen Hospital, China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences, at a constant temperature and with good ventilation, and they were fed with standard feed, with free access to food and water.
