Photo optical method in ACL TOP 700 (IL, Milan, Italy) and CA 1500 automated coagulation analyser (Sysmex, Kobe, Japan) with reagent Recombiplastin 2G (IL) and Innovin (Siemens, Marburg, Germany) alongwith Synthasil (IL) was used to perform prothrombin time and activated partial thromboplastin time (APTT), respectively. FVIII assay based on a one-stage APTT which was performed in the above-mentioned instruments in the presence of immune depleted FVIII-deficient plasma (Siemens) and IL calibrator (IL).

Comparative Evaluation of APTT Reagents

Six APTT reagents, i.e. SynthAFax (IL/Werfen), SynthA-Sil (IL/Werfen), Actin FS (Siemens), DG Synth (Grifols, Barcelona, Spain), Pathromtin Ò SL (Siemens), and APTT SP (IL/Werfen), were used at both sites, and a further two reagents (Actin and Actin FSL; both Siemens) were tested at Site 1 only.
