Vivact80 μct scanner

Manufactured by Scanco
Sourced in Switzerland

The VivaCT80 μCT scanner is a compact, high-resolution micro-computed tomography (μCT) system designed for in vivo and ex vivo imaging of small animals and samples. The system utilizes X-ray technology to generate three-dimensional (3D) images of the internal structure of the scanned object.

Analyzing Femoral Bone Microstructure

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
To assess bone microstructures, the right femurs were fixed with 4% PFA for 48 h and analyzed by a vivaCT80 μCT scanner (SCANCO Medical AG, Bruettisellen, Switzerland; resolution 11.5 μm per pixel, 45 kV, 100 μA). Three softwares including NRecon, CTAn v1.11, and μCTVol v2.0 were used to reconstruct, analyze, and visualize trabecular and cortical bones in the distal femurs. The region of interest (ROI) for trabecular bone analysis was the area between 0.6 mm and 1.2 mm proximal to the distal growth plate, while the region for cortical bone analysis was started from the midpoint of femoral shaft and extended distally for 5% of femoral length. Tb. BV/TV, Tb. Th, Tb. N, Tb. Sp, Ps. Pm, Es. Pm, and Ct. Th were measured.

About PubCompare

Our mission is to provide scientists with the largest repository of trustworthy protocols and intelligent analytical tools, thereby offering them extensive information to design robust protocols aimed at minimizing the risk of failures.

We believe that the most crucial aspect is to grant scientists access to a wide range of reliable sources and new useful tools that surpass human capabilities.

However, we trust in allowing scientists to determine how to construct their own protocols based on this information, as they are the experts in their field.
