Synthesis and Characterization of Gold Nanoparticles

Hydrogen tetrachloroaurate trihydrate (HAuCl4·3H2O), folic acid (FA), 11-mercaptoundecanoic acid (MUA) and trichloroacetic acid were obtained from Aladdin Reagent Co., Ltd. (Shanghai, China). Bovine serum albumin (BSA, fraction V) and amino acids (Ile, Pro, Arg, Gly, Gln, Ser, Ala, Leu, His) were purchased from Beijing Dingguo Changsheng Biotech Co. (Beijing, China). Other routine reagents like HCl, NaOH, NaCl, KCl, MgCl2, CaCl2, Na2CO3, NaHCO3, NaH2PO4, Na2HPO4 and Na3PO4 were purchased from Tianjin Guangfu Fine Chemical Research Institute (Tianjin, China). All chemicals were of analytical reagent grade and were used without further purification. The water used throughout all the experiments was purified through a Millipore system.

Sensitive Detection of Tetracycline Antibiotics

All chemicals were of analytical reagent grade and were used as received.
Distilled water (18.2 MΩ cm -1 ) was used throughout the current study. Oxytetracycline (OTC), tetracycline (TC), hydrogen tetrachloroaurate(III) tetrahydrate (HAuCl4• 4H2O), and streptavidin (SA) were purchased from Heowns Biochem Technology Co., Ltd. (Tianjin, China). Doxycycline (DC) was purchased from Meryer Chemical Technology Co., Ltd. (Shanghai, China). Hydroxylammonium chloride (NH2OH• HCl) was purchased from Macklin Biochemical Co., Ltd. (Shanghai, China). NaOH, K2HPO4, and metal salts including NaCl, KCl, MgCl2, CuCl2, MnCl2, FeCl3, and CaCl2 were purchased from Tianjin Guangfu Fine Chemical Research Institute (Tianjin, China). Phenylalanine (Phe), histidine (His), arginine (Arg), valine (Val), and isoleucine (Ile) were purchased from Yuanye Bio-Technology Co., Ltd. (Shanghai, China). Bovine serum albumin (BSA) and calmodulin (CaM) were purchased from Sigma-Aldrich (Beijing, China). Other reagents were obtained from Sinopharm Chemical Reagent Co., Ltd. (Beijing, China).
A stock solution of HAuCl4 (1%, w/v) was prepared by dissolving 1 g HAuCl4 in 100 mL of ultrapure water and stored at 4°C. The preparation of 0.1 M of Mcllvaine-EDTA buffer (pH 4) was carried out by dissolving 5.9 g trisodium citrate dihydrate, 13.8 g Na2HPO4•12H2O, and 18.6 g Na2EDTA•12H2O in 500 mL of ultrapure water.

Extruded Mg Alloy Substrates for Antimicrobial and Biomedical Applications

Extruded plates of pure Mg (99.97% purity), provided by Shandong Yinguang Yuyuan Light Metal Precise Forming Co., Ltd., Shandong, China, were used as substrates and cut into cuboids with dimensions of 20 mm × 20 mm × 4 mm (used for corrosion characterization) and 10 mm × 10 mm × 4 mm (used for antibacterial and cytotoxicity tests) with a linear cutting machine. The chemical reagents used in this study are as follows: hemin (95%, Shanghai Aladdin Biochemical Technology Co., Ltd., Shanghai, China), methyltrimethoxysilane (MTMS, 98%, Shanghai Macklin Biochemical Co., Ltd., Shanghai, China), N, N-dimethylformamide (DMF, AR, Sinopharm Chemical Reagent Co., Ltd., Shanghai, China), CaCl2 (AR, Tianjin Guangfu Technology Development Co., Ltd., Tianjin, China), NaH2PO4 (AR, Xiya Chemical Technology Co., Ltd., Chengdu, China), NaOH (AR, Chengdu Kelong Chemical Co., Ltd., Chengdu, China), Na2SiO3·9H2O (AR, Tianjin Beichen District Fangzheng Reagent Factory, Tianjin, China) and Na2B4O7·10H2O (AR, Tianjin Guangfu Technology Development Co., Ltd., Tianjin, China).
