Hoboware pro software

Manufactured by Hobo
Sourced in United States

HOBOware Pro software is a data logging and analysis tool designed to work with Onset HOBO data loggers. It allows users to launch, read out, and plot data from HOBO devices. The software provides basic graphing and analysis capabilities for the recorded data.

Monitoring Wetland Water Depth

We installed one water-pressure logger in each study wetland to measure water depth, except when a wetland was too deep to wade or we could not transport a kayak or canoe to it. We used a measuring pole to locate the deepest spot in each study wetland and drove a plastic pipe (anchor pipe) into the sediments to mark that location. We left the anchor pipe in place throughout the year. We installed one pressure logger (Global Water Model 14 and 15 [College Station, TX, USA] or Onset Computer Corporation Model U20-001-04 [Bourne, MA, USA], depending upon the year and site), suspended approximately 2.5 cm above the sediments, in the same spot each year alongside, and secured to, the anchor pipe soon after wetland conditions allowed. We also installed one pressure logger above the water’s surface at one or more study wetlands in each study area as necessary to measure barometric pressure for comparing with the submerged loggers’ readings. We set each of the loggers to measure pressure once per hour and used logger software supplied by Global Water and HOBOware Pro software (Onset Computer Corporation) to upload and convert data from the pressure loggers at the end of the season.

Tracking Sheep Activity with HOBO Accelerometers

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
HOBO® Pendant G accelerometer data loggers were used to record steps during the attention bias test (dimensions: 58 mm × 33 mm × 23 mm, weight: 18 g) (Onset Computer Corporation, Pocasset, MA, United States). The HOBO® Waterproof Shuttle and HOBOware® Pro software (version 3.7.8) were used for programming and reading the HOBO loggers (Onset Computer Corporation, Pocasset, MA, United States). Data loggers were programmed to record at a logging interval of 0.03 s (33 Hz) when activated using a magnet [measurement range: ±3 gravitational force (g); accuracy: ±0.075 g at 25°C].
On the afternoon prior to testing, after receiving their injections, all sheep had a small silicone pad attached to the outside of their left hind leg in the middle of the cannon bone using veterinary cohesive bandage. The silicone pad had a small recess in which the HOBO loggers could be placed to keep them still and away from the leg. The following day, immediately prior to entering the attention bias test, a HOBO logger was activated using a magnet, then was tucked between the bandage and the silicone pad on the outside of the leg. All data loggers were removed at the end of the day after testing had been completed. Steps were calculated from the accelerometer data using an in-house program (Little, 2015 ).

Calf Locomotion Monitoring via Accelerometers

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
Accelerometers (Hobo Pendant G Acceleration Data Logger, Onset Computer Corp.; product specifications are described in detail in Luu et al., 2013) (link) were fitted to the rear side of both hind legs of calves using elastic cohesive bandages. Accelerometers were attached vertically to the leg such that the x-axis was perpendicular to the ground. The accelerometers were set to measure readings on the vertical axis at a rate of 1 Hz (1 sample/s), allowing recording of acceleration every second for 18.1 h. Acceleration was recorded from 0500 until 2304 h on 2 consecutive days per testing week, with the accelerometer on the right leg recording d 1 and that on the left leg recording d 2. Calves wore accelerometers for approximately 66 h per testing week (from the evening before until the morning after the testing days). Programming of accelerometers was performed using an optical infrared base station with USB interface and the Hoboware Pro Software (version 3.7.8; Onset Computer Corp.) with the starting time set in advance.

About PubCompare

Our mission is to provide scientists with the largest repository of trustworthy protocols and intelligent analytical tools, thereby offering them extensive information to design robust protocols aimed at minimizing the risk of failures.

We believe that the most crucial aspect is to grant scientists access to a wide range of reliable sources and new useful tools that surpass human capabilities.

However, we trust in allowing scientists to determine how to construct their own protocols based on this information, as they are the experts in their field.
