Characterization of Commercial Pesticide Formulations

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
Six commercial formulations, with different composition, have been characterized in the present study: FLINT MAX (50% tebuconazole, WG); MASSOCUR 12.5 EC (12.5% myclobutanil, EC); IMPACT EVO (12.5% flutriafol, SC); TOPAS (19.4% penconazole, EW); LATINO (formerly known as MITRUS, 12.5% myclobutanil, EC); and IMPALA STAR (2.5% fenbuconazole, EW). These pesticide formulations were acquired from various vendors, and they are described in detail in Supporting Information Table S1.
Analytical standards of the compounds glyceryl monostearate, 1‐monopalmitin, hexaethylene glycol and 1,2‐benzisothiazol‐3(2H)‐one were purchased from Sigma‐Aldrich (St. Louis, MO, USA). Dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) (≥99.7% of purity) and N,N‐dimethyldecanamide were acquired from Honeywell Riedel‐de‐Haёn (Seelze, Germany).
Methanol (99.9% purity) and water, both LC‐MS grade, were obtained from Honeywell Riedel‐de‐Haёn and from JT Baker (Deventer, Netherlands), respectively. Formic acid was purchased from Fisher Scientific (Erembodegem, Belgium).
A mixture of acetic acid, caffeine, Met‐Arg‐Phe‐Ala‐acetate salt and Ultramark 1621 (ProteoMass LTQ/FT‐hybrid ESI positive and negative) from Thermo‐Fisher (Waltham, MA, USA) were employed for the accurate mass calibration of the Q‐Orbitrap analyzer.

Biocide Compound Extraction and Analysis

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
Analytical grade 2-octyl-4-isothiazolin-3-one (OIT, 99.7%), 2-Methyl-4-isothiazolin-3-one (MIT, ≥94%), 1,2-benzisothiazol-3(2H)-one (BIT, 97%), and 5-chloro-2-Methyl-4-isothiazolin-3-one (CMI, 99.9%) were selected as target biocide compounds and were acquired from Sigma Aldrich (Darmstadt, Germany). The physico-chemical properties are given in Table S1 (supplementary material). Formic acid, silica gel, and sodium sulfate was purchased also from Sigma Aldrich (Germany). Methanol and acetonitrile, chromatographic grade, were acquired from Merck Millipore (Darmstadt, Germany). Individual stock solutions were prepared in Methanol and kept at 4 °C. The ultra-pure water was produced in-house using a Milli Q water system (Millipore, Molsheim, France). All glassware was rinsed with ultra-pure water prior to use.

About PubCompare

Our mission is to provide scientists with the largest repository of trustworthy protocols and intelligent analytical tools, thereby offering them extensive information to design robust protocols aimed at minimizing the risk of failures.

We believe that the most crucial aspect is to grant scientists access to a wide range of reliable sources and new useful tools that surpass human capabilities.

However, we trust in allowing scientists to determine how to construct their own protocols based on this information, as they are the experts in their field.
