Indole 3 acetonitrile

The following chemicals were used: methanol, acetonitrile, isopropanol (HPLC grade, Merck, Darmstadt, Germany), formic acid (>96.0%), 2,2-azinobis-(ethyl-2,3-dihydrobenzothiazoline-6-sulphonic acid) diammonium salt-ABTS, 6-hydroxy-2,5,7,8-tetramethylchroman-2-carboxylic acid-Trolox, caffeic acid, ferulic acid, sinapic acid, quercetin, kaempferol, indole-3-carbinol, indole-3-acetonitrile, 3,3′-diindolylmethane, N-acetyl-l-cysteine, allyl isothiocyanate, sulforaphane (Sigma Aldrich, St. Louis, MO, USA), and glucotropaeolin (AppliChem, Darmstadt, Germany).

¹³C₁₁-Trp and d₇-indole-3-acetic acid (d₇-IAA) were purchased from Cambridge Isotope Laboratories (Tewksbury, MA). Trp, indole-3-lactic acid (ILA), indole-3-ethanol (tryptophol, TOL), indole-3-acetic acid (IAA), indole-3-acetonitrile (IAN), indole-3-acetamide (IAM), tryptamine (TAM) were from Sigma-Aldrich (St. Louis, MO). HPLC grade water and acetonitrile were obtained from Fisher Scientific (Pittsburgh, PA). All other commercially available chemicals were either reagent grade or were of the highest quality.

Murashige and Skoog (MS) powder medium containing vitamins, plant agar, and 2-(N-morpholino)ethanesulfonic acid (MES) monohydrate were obtained from Duchefa, Haarlem, The Netherlands. Sucrose, NaCl, mannitol were purchased from Kemika, Zagreb, Croatia, while Izosan G was purchased from Pliva, Zagreb, Croatia. Propidium iodide (PI) was obtained from Sigma-Aldrich, St. Louis, MO, USA. Standards for IAA and its precursors anthranilate (ANT), indole-3-acetaldehyde (IAAld), IAM, indole-3-acetonitrile (IAN), IPyA, tryptamine (TRA), and tryptophan (TRP) were purchased from Sigma-Aldrich, and standards for IAOx and 2-oxoindole-3-Acetic acid (oxIAA) from OlChemIm Ltd, Olomouc, Czech Republic. Acetic acid was purchased from Merck (Darmstadt, Germany), diethyldithiocarbamic acid sodium salt and cysteamine hydrochloride from Sigma-Aldrich, St. Louis, MO, USA, and HPLC gradient grade solvents from J.T. Baker—Fisher Scientific, Hampton, NH, USA. All other chemicals were from Carl Roth, Karlsruhe, Germany and Sigma-Aldrich.
