On the past day of the experimental period (42 days), rats were fasted overnight and then anesthetized with ether, and blood samples were drawn from the hepatic portal vein and then transported into centrifuge tubes. Tubes were centrifuged at 5000× g for 15 min at 23°C to collect serum for the biochemical examination. Serum samples were stored at −20°C until used for various biochemical analyses. To determine hematological parameters, additional blood samples (approximately 1 mL) were collected into test tubes containing EDTA.

(CA, USA).
