Data on ERAS interventions, complications, and LOS were analyzed using IBM SPSS Statistics ver. 26.0 for Windows (IBM Corp., Armonk, NY, USA) and STATA (Stata/MP, ver. 15; StataCorp LLC, College Station, TX, USA). The normality of data distribution was evaluated and summarized using descriptive statistics. Continuous data were presented by means with their standard deviations or medians and interquartile ranges (IQR). The chi-square test or Mann-Whitney U-tests was used to test for differences.
With ERAS interventions and complications as predictors, LOS was analyzed both as a continuous outcome variable as well as converted to a binary outcome based on median (≤ 6 and > 6 days). Subsequently, both a univariate and multivariate linear and logistic regression analysis was performed respectively. Where there were more than 2 categories for the independent variable, a 1-way analysis of variance was performed instead of univariate linear regression. All tests were 2-tailed and a P-value of < 0.05 was considered significant.
