Aldefluor assay kit and collagenase/hyaluronidase were purchased from StemCell Technologies (Vancouver, Canada); Antibodies to β-catenin was purchased from Bioworld Technology (Minneapolis, MN, USA); Antibodies to cyclin D1, Beclin1 and Atg 7 were purchased from Santa Cruz (CA, USA); Antibodies to LC3 were purchased from Cell Signaling Technology (Danvers, MA, USA). The GFP- LC3-II plasmids were kindly provided by Dr. Tamotsu Yoshimori (National Institute for Basic Biology, Okazaki, Japan). The plasmid of pcDNA3-S33Y β-catenin (Plasmid 19286) was provided by Addgene (MA, USA).

RPMI 1640 medium and fetal bovine serum (FBS) were obtained from GIBCO/BRL Life Technologies (Grand Island, NY). Antibodies to cyclin D1, cyclin E, cyclin A, cyclin B1, cyclin-dependent kinase 4 (Cdk4), Cdk2, PARP, E2F1, CDC25A, α-tubulin, Bcl-2, Bcl-xL, Mcl-1, Bak, Bid, Bax, Bad, Na⁺/K⁺-ATPase α₃ subunit, c-myc (N262), c-myc siRNA and anti-mouse and anti-rabbit IgGs were obtained from Santa Cruz Biotechnology, Inc. (Santa Cruz, CA). Antibodies to Cdk1, retinoblastoma (RB), p-RB^Ser801/811, caspase-8, caspase-9, caspase-3, caspase-7, p-Akt^Ser473, p-Akt^Thr308, Akt, c-myc, acetyl-α-tubulin and GAPDH were from Cell Signaling Technologies (Boston, MA). Sulforhodamine B (SRB), propidium iodide (PI), phenylmethylsulfonylfluoride (PMSF), trichloroacetic acid (TCA), CGP-37157 and all other chemical compounds were obtained from Sigma-Aldrich (St. Louis, MO). Fluo-3/AM and carboxyfluorescein succinimidyl ester (CFSE) were from Molecular Probes Inc. (Eugene, OR, USA). Reevesioside A was isolated from the root of reevesia formosana. The breast cancer cell line MDA-MB-231 was obtained from the American Type Culture Collection (ATCC). Citral (Geranial and neral mixture, cat no: C83007) was purchased from Sigma Aldrich, USA. The stock solution was prepared in 5% dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) (Sigma Aldrich, USA) and stored at − 20 °C until further use. Antibodies to β-catenin, phospho-β-catenin Ser33/Ser37/Thr41 were purchased from Cell Signaling Technology, USA. Antibodies to cyclin D1 and β-actin were purchased from Santa Cruz Biotechnology, USA.
