Female athymic nude mice aged 6 weeks, weighing 19–23 g, were purchased from Nara Biotech (Seoul, Korea). All mice were housed under specific pathogen-free environmental conditions at the laboratory animal facility of the Anonymous College of Veterinary Medicine. All experimental procedures involving animals were approved by the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee at Anonymous (approval no.: Anonymous-210825-2). To induce CMGC in mice, 5 × 106 CIPp cells were suspended in 100 µL of PBS, mixed with 100 µL of Matrigel (Corning Inc., New York, USA), and injected into the mammary fat pad. Tumour growth and body weight were measured every 3–4 days until post-injection day 21. Tumour volume was estimated using the following formula: (width2×length)/2 [44 (link), 45 (link)]. Mice were sacrificed on day 21 with CO2 asphyxiation, and xenograft tumours were harvested. For safety evaluation, organ abnormalities were visually inspected at necropsy, and the organs of digestive system (stomach, small and large intestines) were assessed by group.

Preclinical Animal Models for Pharmacokinetics and Cancer

Cultivation and Maintenance of Human and Murine Cell Lines

For the animal experiments, female athymic nude mice were purchased from nara Biotech (Seoul, Korea). Female C57BL/6 mice and male Sprague Dawley rats were obtained from Taconic Farms Inc. (Samtako Bio Korea, Osan, Korea). All animals were housed under controlled conditions using a 12/12-h light/dark cycle at 22±1˚C and 55±5% humidity under specific pathogen-free conditions. All animal experiments were approved by the Animal Care and use Committee of the Korea Institute of Oriental Medicine (KIOM, Daejeon, Korea), with the reference numbers #13-42, #13-48 and #14-27, and were performed in accordance with the guidelines of the Animal Care and use Committee at KIOM.
