Mouse hemoglobin a1c hba1c assay kit

Manufactured by Crystal Chem
Sourced in United States

The Mouse Hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) Assay Kit is a laboratory equipment product designed to measure the level of glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) in mouse samples. HbA1c is an important indicator of average blood glucose levels over a period of time. The kit provides the necessary reagents and protocols to perform this analysis.

Glycemia and Body Composition Analysis

Body weight and food intake were recorded weekly. After an overnight fast, glycemia was measured weekly using a drop of whole blood taken from the tail and an Accu-Chek Performa blood glucose meter (Roche, Mannheim, Germany). After 6 weeks of treatment, fat and lean mass were recorded by MRI (EchoMRI 3-in-1 instrument; Echo Medical Systems, Houston, TX, USA). Finally, animals were fasted overnight (16 h) and euthanized by cervical dislocation. Whole blood was harvested right after the death of the mice and a small portion was collected in an EDTA-treated tube and put on ice until analysis. Glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) levels were measured in EDTA-treated whole blood with a mouse Hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) Assay Kit (Crystal Chem, Elk Grove Village, IL, USA) by comparing absorbance at 700 nm in a spectrometer with Hba1c controls according to the instructions of the manufacturer.

Blood was collected from cardiac puncture for blood chemistry and adipokine assays.
The enzyme activities of GOT and GPT, in addition to TCHO and TG levels were analyzed from serum samples using Fuji biochemical slides and a Fuji Dri-Chem 4000i analyzer (Fujifilm Cooperation, Taipei, Taiwan) in the Taiwan Mouse Clinic at Academia Sinica. Plasma levels of adiponectin, leptin, IL-6, and insulin were measured using mouse ELISA kits (Merck Millipore, Taipei, Taiwan). The plasma free fatty acid was measured using an ELISA kit (ab65341, Abcam, Cambridge, MA, USA), and blood HbA1c was measured using the mouse Hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) Assay kit (Crystal Chem, Elk Grove Village, IL, USA).

HbA1c Quantification in Mouse Blood

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
Whole blood was collected from the tail vein. HbA1c was measured using a Mouse Hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) Assay Kit (#83010, Crystal Chem, Downers Grove, IL, USA) for the quantitative determination of HbA1c in whole blood depending on manufacturer's instructions. Serum was isolated by centrifugation at 2,000 rpm for 10 min. Blood chemistry analysis was performed at the Pohang Center for Evaluation of Biomaterials, Pohang Technopark in Pohang, Korea.

For blood chemistry and adipokine assays, blood was collected from cardiac puncture at the conclusion of experiments. The TCHO levels were analyzed from serum samples using Fuji biochemical slides and a Fuji Dri-Chem 4000i analyzer (Fujifilm Cooperation, Taipei, Taiwan) in the Taiwan Mouse Clinic at Academia Sinica. Plasma levels of adiponectin, leptin, IL-6, and insulin were measured using mouse ELISA kits (Merck Millipore, Taipei, Taiwan). Monitoring Glycemic Control in Mice

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
Weekly blood glucose measurements were performed using the Contour XT glucose meter (Ascensia diabetes Care, NJ, USA). Blood was sampled from the saphenous vein. The first drop of blood was wiped away and the second was used for the blood glucose measurement. Measurements were taken at the same time of day (between 11am and 1pm). The hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) percentage was measured in whole blood and is used to determine the degree to which hemoglobin in the erythrocytes has become glycated. Whole blood was collected in the same manner as described for the blood glucose measurement, and HbA1c% was measured using the Mouse Hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) Assay Kit (Crystal Chem, IL, USA, catalog# 80310).

About PubCompare

Our mission is to provide scientists with the largest repository of trustworthy protocols and intelligent analytical tools, thereby offering them extensive information to design robust protocols aimed at minimizing the risk of failures.

We believe that the most crucial aspect is to grant scientists access to a wide range of reliable sources and new useful tools that surpass human capabilities.

However, we trust in allowing scientists to determine how to construct their own protocols based on this information, as they are the experts in their field.
