Aluminum chloride hexahydrate (AlCl3·6H2O) and zinc chloride tetrahydrate (ZnCl2·4H2O) were purchased from Sigma-Aldrich. Manganese chloride tetrahydrate (MnCl2·4H2O) was purchased from Alfa Aesar. Potassium hydroxide, acetic acid (100%, AnalaR NORMAPUR®) and hydrochloric acid (37 wt%) were obtained from VWR Prolabo. Potassium chloride (Merck & Co., puriss. p.a.) was used as received. All aqueous solutions were made with deionized water (18.2 MΩ cm) from a TKA MicroPure UV purification system.
