Potassium persulfate were purchased from Sigma-Aldrich, Inc. (St. Louis, MO, USA). Also, 2,2-azino-bis-(3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid) diammonium salt (ABTS) and 2,2diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) were obtained from Fluka Chemicals (Buchs, Switzerland) and Aldrich Chemical Company (Steinheim, Germany) respectively. Tryptic soy agar (TSA), phosphate-buffered saline (PBS), and TSB (tryptic soy broth) were procured from Oxoid (Hampshire, England). Metal salts for sensing and selectivity tests include: HgCl2 from VWR chemicals BDH, FeSO4.7H2O from Merck, FeCl3.6H2O, MgCl2.6H2O and NiCl2.6H2O were procured from Loba Chemie, ZnSO4.7H2O, Al(NO3)3.9H2O, CdCl2.2.5H2O, Ca(NO3)2.4H2O, CuSO4.5H2O, CoCl2.6H2O, were all from UNIVAR APS FineChem, while KNO3 and Pb(NO3)2 were procured from ANAPURE.

Citrus clementina Peel Characterization

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
The Citrus clementina peels were collected from the Dalibor Ujević family farm (Opuzen, Croatia) and were washed with water several times before use. Amino acids L-glycine and L-arginine were purchased from Merck, Germany, and Sigma–Aldrich, USA. Ascorbic acid (Gram Mol, Croatia) and different inorganic salts used for selectivity measurements were as follows: FeCl3 × 6H2O (VWR International, USA), MgCl3 × 6H2O (T.T.T., Croatia), CaCl2 × 2H2O (BDH Prolabo, UK), KCl, NaCl (Gram Mol, Croatia), CuCl2 x 2H2O (Kemika, Croatia), AlCl3 x 6H2O (Brend Kraft, Germany), HgCl2 (VWR International, USA), and MnCl2 x 4H2O (Sigma–Aldrich, St. Louis, MO, USA). The quinine sulfate and DPPH assay (2,2′-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl) were supplied by Merck, Germany. The chemicals and solvents, such as ethanol, methanol, dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO), acetone, sulfuric acid, acetic acid, and hydrochloric acid, were purchased by Merck, Germany, while NaOH pellets were obtained by Gram Mol, Croatia. Milli-Q pure water obtained by the Milli-Q Millipore system (conductivity ≤ 0.054 μS/cm) was used throughout the samples preparation and analytical measurements. The sample purification was carried out using dialysis membrane Spectra/Por 7 (MWCO 1kDa) supplied by Spectrum Labs (Rancho Dominguez, CA, USA).
All reagents and chemicals were of analytical grade and were used further without purification.

About PubCompare

Our mission is to provide scientists with the largest repository of trustworthy protocols and intelligent analytical tools, thereby offering them extensive information to design robust protocols aimed at minimizing the risk of failures.

We believe that the most crucial aspect is to grant scientists access to a wide range of reliable sources and new useful tools that surpass human capabilities.

However, we trust in allowing scientists to determine how to construct their own protocols based on this information, as they are the experts in their field.
