Commercially available reagents were of analytical grade and used without further purification. Methyl p-formylbenzoate and ZrOCl2·8H2O were purchased from Energy Chemical Co. Ltd. (Shanghai, China). Propionic acid was purchased from Shanghai Lingfeng Chemical Reagent Co. Ltd. (Shanghai, China). Pyrrole, PVP, DSS, hydroethidine (HE), 5-ASA, and PQ were purchased from Aladdin Chemical Co. Ltd. (Shanghai, China). H2O2, hydrochloric acid, and benzoic acid were purchased from Sinopharm Chemical Reagent Co. Ltd. (Shanghai, China). Chloroplatinic acid (H2PtCl6·6H2O), NBT, X, XO, and diethylene triamine pentaacetic acid (DTPA) were obtained from Sigma-Aldrich. 5,5-Dimethyl-1-pyrroline-N-oxide (DMPO) was obtained from Dojindo (Japan). DCFH-DA (2′,7′-dichlorofluorescin diacetate) was purchased from Beyotime Chemical Reagent Co. Ltd. (Jiangsu, China). All aqueous solutions were prepared with deionized water (18.2 megohm·cm, Millipore).

MTT and Dulbecco’s modified Eagle’s medium (DMEM) were purchased from Wuhan Kerui Biotechnology Co. Ltd. The bovine INS ELISA kit was obtained from Jiangsu Meimian Industrial Co. Ltd.
