Potassium dihydrogen phosphate and di-potassium hydrogen phosphate were purchased from Kemika (Zagreb, Croatia). All standard solutions, electrolytes, and sample solutions were prepared with ultrapure water (0.05 μS cm−1, Millipore Simplicity UV Water Purification System, Millipore, Burlington, MA, USA) using analytical-reagent grade chemicals.

Microbiological Media Preparation and Sourcing

Microbiological media (tryptone soy broth; TSB, tryptone soy agar; TSA, Muller Hinton agar; MHA, and Muller Hinton broth; MHB) were purchased from HiMedia, Mumbai, India. Fabrication of Nafion-Based Electrochemical Cells

De-ionized water was used throughout to prepare solutions.

Synthesis and Characterization of Abrasive Particles

Potassium sodium tartrate was purchased from Meric Co., Holzgerlingen, Germany.

Activated Carbon Adsorption Characterization

The activated carbon used as adsorbent in this work was Norit ROX 0.8. S-IV (general purpose grade) and cyclohexane (99.99%) which were obtained from Fisher Chemical, whereas H 2 O 2 (30%, w/v) was obtained from Panreac. Sulphuric acid (96-98 wt.%), nitric acid (65 wt.%) and urea (65 wt.%) were obtained from Riedel-de-Haën. Distilled water was used throughout the work.
