Polysorbate 80 ps80

Manufactured by Merck Group
Sourced in Japan, Denmark, Sweden, United Kingdom

Polysorbate 80 (PS80) is a non-ionic surfactant commonly used in laboratory and pharmaceutical applications. It is a clear, viscous, and water-soluble liquid. PS80 acts as an emulsifier, dispersant, and wetting agent, facilitating the uniform distribution of ingredients in various formulations.

Surfactant Effects on Microbial Growth

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
Four different types of surfactants were used: Benzalkonium chloride (BZC) (Sigma-Aldrich, Tokyo, Japan) as a cationic surfactant, sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) (Sigma-Aldrich) as an anionic surfactant, 3-(3-Cholamidepropyl) dimethylammonio-1-propane-sulphonate (CHAPS) (Sigma-Aldrich) as an amphoteric surfactant, and Polysorbate 80 (PS80) (Sigma-Aldrich) as a non-ionic surfactant. Surfactants dissolved in Tryptic Soy Broth (TSB) were serially diluted 10-fold and final concentrations of the surfactants were 0.0005%, 0.005%, 0.05%, and 0.5%.

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
Acetonitrile (HPLC-grade), formic acid, polysorbate 80 (PS 80), sodium chloride, sodium dihydrogen phosphate monohydrate, sodium hydrogen phosphate (anhydrous), sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) and tert-butanol were purchased from Sigma-Aldrich® Denmark ApS (Brøndby, Denmark). Sodium hydroxide was purchased from Merck A/S (Hellerup, Denmark). Soluplus®, an amphiphilic graft co-polymer based on polyethylene glycol, polyvinyl caprolactam and polyvinyl acetate, was kindly donated by BASF SE (Ludwigshafen, Germany). Tadalafil (TDF; purity 99%) was purchased from abcr GmbH (Karlsruhe, Germany). D-α-Tocopheryl polyethylene glycol 1000 succinate (Vitamin E TPGS) (NF grade) was kindly donated by Gustav Parmentier GmbH (Frankfurt am Main, Germany). If not stated otherwise, chemicals were of analytical grade. Simulated intestinal fluid (SIF) instant powder containing sodium taurocholate and lecithin was purchased from biorelevant.com (London, United Kingdom). Highly purified water used for the preparation of all dispersion- and acceptor media and aqueous UHPLC solvent was freshly prepared using a Milli-Q® integral water purification system (Milli-Q® Advantage A10®; Merck Millipore, Merck A/S, Hellerup, Denmark).

SEN023,
SEN066, and SEN089
are structural QSI analogues designed, synthesized, and supplied by
the University of Nottingham (Nottingham, UK). The structures of the
compounds are not disclosed for intellectual property protection since
the compounds are potentially patent pending. They are, however, structural
analogues of SEN001 as shown previously.11 (link) Polyethylene 400 (PEG400) and polysorbate 80 (PS80) were purchased
from Sigma-Aldrich (Stockholm, Sweden).

SEN001 (3-amino-7-chloro-2-nonylquinazolin-4(3H)-one),19 (link) SEN019, and SEN032 are PqsR antagonists developed at the University of Nottingham. SEN001 and SEN019 were synthesized in house, whereas SEN032 was purchased from Enamine Ltd (Kiev, Ukraine). The structure of SEN001 is shown in Figure 1. SEN019 and SEN032 are structural analogues of SEN001, and the sites of modification from SEN001 are indicated with small numbers in Figure 1. The structures of SEN019 and SEN032 are not disclosed for intellectual property protection purposes because the compounds are patent-pending. Polyethylene 400 (PEG400) and polysorbate 80 (PS80) were purchased from Sigma-Aldrich (Stockholm, Sweden).

Peptide G48 is a linear peptide composed of 29 amino acid (AA) residues with a molecular weight (MW) of ~ 3.5 kDa and an isoelectric point (PI) of ~5 (estimated based on ionisable groups). G48 was provided by AstraZeneca (Cambridge, UK) with >98 % purity determined by RP-HPLC analysis. Thioflavin T (ThT), trisaminoethane (Tris), sodium hydroxide (NaOH), hydrochloric acid (HCl), ferulic acid (FA), trifluoroacetic acid (TFA), HPLC-grade acetonitrile and water were obtained from Fisher Scientific (Loughborough, UK). Sodium azide (NaN3), sodium acetate and polysorbate 80 (PS80) were purchased from Sigma Aldrich (Gillingham, UK).

About PubCompare

Our mission is to provide scientists with the largest repository of trustworthy protocols and intelligent analytical tools, thereby offering them extensive information to design robust protocols aimed at minimizing the risk of failures.

We believe that the most crucial aspect is to grant scientists access to a wide range of reliable sources and new useful tools that surpass human capabilities.

However, we trust in allowing scientists to determine how to construct their own protocols based on this information, as they are the experts in their field.
