Quantifying Fly Body Fat Content

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
Body fat content was measured using quantitative magnetic resonance (QMR) for flies at specific ages at the UAB Small Animal Phenotyping Core. Virgin flies were collected, sorted by sex and genotype, and aged for the desired time (3–5, 20, 30, 40 or 50 days old). At the appropriate age, flies were placed into a microcentrifuge tube (10 flies per tube, 4 tubes per sex and genotype for each time point), and stored on ice. QMR analysis was performed by the UAB Small Animal Phenotyping core with an EchoMRI 3-in-1 machine (Echo Medical Systems, Houston, TX). Flies were transferred into the biopsy tube and scanned using the biopsy setting with 9 primary accumulations. Data were analyzed in R using ANOVA with a Tukey’s HSD post hoc test [31 ].

Quantitative Magnetic Resonance Analysis of Fly Body Composition

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
Body composition was analyzed by QMR at the UAB Small Animal Phenotyping Core as described previously95 (link). Briefly, virgin flies were collected and processed at 0–4 days of age. Ten flies were used per replicate, and four replicates per sex and genotype. Groups of flies were moved into the biopsy tube and scanned using the biopsy setting with nine primary accumulations with an EchoMRI 3-in-1 machine (Echo Medical Systems, Houston, TX).

Body Composition Analysis by Quantitative Magnetic Resonance in Flies

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
GO term analysis was carried out using the PANTHER (Protein ANalysis THrough Evolutionary Relationships; version 15.0) Classification System (Mi, Muruganujan, Ebert, et al., 2019; Mi, Muruganujan, Huang, et al., 2019) . A false discovery rate (FDR; p<0.05) was used for multiple testing correction in the overrepresentation test (Fisher's Exact test).
Body composition analysis by quantitative magnetic resonance (QMR)
Body composition was analyzed by QMR at the UAB Small Animal Phenotyping Core as described previously (Mills et al., 2018) (link). Briefly, virgin flies were collected and processed at 0-4 days of age. Ten flies were used per replicate, and four replicates per sex and genotype.

About PubCompare

Our mission is to provide scientists with the largest repository of trustworthy protocols and intelligent analytical tools, thereby offering them extensive information to design robust protocols aimed at minimizing the risk of failures.

We believe that the most crucial aspect is to grant scientists access to a wide range of reliable sources and new useful tools that surpass human capabilities.

However, we trust in allowing scientists to determine how to construct their own protocols based on this information, as they are the experts in their field.
