Isosorbide 98%, sodium hydroxide microbeads and tetraethylammonium bromide 98% were purchased from Acros Organics (Geel, Belgium). Epichlorohydrin ≥ 99% was supplied by Sigma-Aldrich (Saint-Quentin Fallavier, France), glacial acetic acid and perchloric acid 70% were purchased from VWR (Fontenay sous Bois, France).

Synthesis and Characterization of Epoxy-Acrylic Copolymers

The industrial-grade, low-viscosity aliphatic triepoxidetriglycidyl ether of trimethylolethane (Erisys GE-31), abbreviated to TMETGE, was purchased from Huntsman, (Houston, TX, USA). Acrylic acid (AA) and methacrylic acid (MAA), both stabilized with hydroquinone with a purity of 99.5%, was supplied by Acros Organics (Geel, Belgium). Triphenylphosphine (PPh3), Apollo Scientific, Bredbury, UK, was used as a catalyst in the reaction between TMETGE and AA or MAA, while hydroquinone (HQ, Acros Organics, Geel, Belgium) was used as a polymerization inhibitor. All chemicals were employed as received.
The following titration reagents and indicators were used: glacial acetic acid, toluene, potassium hydroxide standard solution 0.1 M in ethanol (KOH) and crystal violet purchased from Chempur (Piekary Śląskie, Poland); chloroform from PPH Stanlab (Lublin, Poland); ethyl alcohol from Avantor (Gliwice, Poland); tetraethylammonium bromide provided by Acros Organics (Geel, Belgium); perchloric acid standard solution 0.1 M in glacial acetic acid supplied by Fischer Chemicals AG (Zurich, Switzerland); phenolophtalein 1% in ethyl alcohol solution from Eurochem BGD (Tarnów, Poland). All chemicals were analytical grade and were used as received.

Crude Jatropha Oil Conversion

Magnesium sulphate (97%), hydrogen bromide (33%), 4-methylhexhydrophthalic anhydride (MHPA) (98%), and tetraethyl ammonium bromide (TEAB) (98%) were obtained from ACROS Organic, Carlsbad, CA, USA. Potassium hydrogen phthalate (99%) was obtained from AJAX Chemicals, Taren Point, Australia, and chlorobenzene (99%) was supplied by Merck, Kenilworth, NJ, USA. All chemicals were used as received.

Radiolabeled Compound Characterization Protocol

were purchased from Moravek Biomaterials and Radiochemicals (Brea, CA).
3H-Corticosterone was from American Radiolabeled Chemicals (St.
Louis, MO).14C-indomethacin was from Amersham Life Science (Amersham,
United Kingdom). Chlorhexidine diglucanote, sucrose, and sodium salicylate were
purchased from Sigma–Aldrich (St. Louis, MO). Tetraethylammonium bromide,
mannitol, urea, indomethacin, corticosterone, and sodium azide (NaN3)
were purchased from Acros Organics (Morris Plains, NJ). Ketorolac tromethamine
and estradiol were purchased from Letco Medical (Decatur, AL). Fluconazole was
from TCI America (Portland, OR). Lidocaine HCl was from Professional Compounding
Center of America (PCCA, Houston, TX). Phosphate buffered saline (PBS), pH 7.4,
consisting of 0.01 M phosphate buffer, 0.0027 M potassium chloride, and 0.137 M
sodium chloride was prepared using PBS tablets (MP Biomedicals, LLC, Solon, OH)
and deionized water (DI water). Triethylamine (HPLC grade), monobasic sodium
phosphate, and glacial acetic acid were purchased from Fisher Scientific (Fair
Lawn, NJ). Acetonitrile (HPLC grade) was from Pharmaco-AAPER (Shelbyville, KY).
All materials were used as received.
