Human bronchial epithelial cell line HBE cells were cultured in RPMI 1640 supplemented with penicillin (100 U/ml), streptomycin (100 mg/ml), and 10% heat inactivated fetal bovine serum (FBS). Lipopolysaccharide(LPS, Escherichia coli, 055:B5)was purchased from Sigma (Missouri, USA). Interferon-γ was purchased from R&D Systems (Minnesota, USA). Lipofectamine™ 2000 Transfection Reagent was from Invitrogen (Grand Island, NY, USA).
