Dietary Intervention with Fatty Acids

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
EPA ethyl ester and DHA ethyl ester (95% grade) were provided by Mochida Pharmaceutical (Tokyo, Japan). Standard laboratory chow (composed of 60% carbohydrate, 13% fat, and 27% protein on a caloric basis) were purchased from Oriental Yeast (Tokyo, Japan). An AHF diet was prepared by modification of a high-fat–high-sucrose diet with 1.25% cholesterol and 0.5% cholate (Oriental Yeast, Tokyo, Japan) [18 (link)]. The dietary component of AHF and fatty acid composition of each diet are presented in S1 and S2 Tables, respectively.

Zucker Diabetic Fatty Rat Model

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
Five-week-old male Zucker Diabetic Fatty (ZDF) lean (?/+) and ZDF fa/fa rats were purchased from Charles River Laboratories Japan, Inc. (Kanagawa, Japan). ZDF fa/fa rats develop T2DM, while ZDF lean (?/+) rats represent ZDF +/+ or fa/+ rats and normal blood glucose level, and then these are used as control rats not to distinguish between ZDF +/+ and ZDF fa/+ rats. Wistar rats, for the preparation of phospholipid-fused mitochondria, were purchased from SLC Japan, Inc. (Tokyo, Japan). Animals were maintained on standard laboratory chow (Oriental Yeast Co., Tokyo, Japan) and water ad libitum, under a reverse dark-light cycle. Animals were fasted for > 18 hr before all experiments. All animals were treated humanely in accordance with guidelines issued by the National Institutes of Health (Bethesda, MD, USA), and all procedures were approved by the Animal Care Committee of Chiba University.

About PubCompare

Our mission is to provide scientists with the largest repository of trustworthy protocols and intelligent analytical tools, thereby offering them extensive information to design robust protocols aimed at minimizing the risk of failures.

We believe that the most crucial aspect is to grant scientists access to a wide range of reliable sources and new useful tools that surpass human capabilities.

However, we trust in allowing scientists to determine how to construct their own protocols based on this information, as they are the experts in their field.
