Neodymium (III) nitrate hexahydrate (Nd(NO3)3·6H2O, 99.9%), sodium hydroxide (NaOH, 98%) and nitric acid (HNO3, 70%) were obtained from Alfa Aesar Inc. (Kandel, Germany). Polyethylene glycol 4000 (PEG), cellulase (enzyme blend of cellulases, ß-glucosidases and hemicellulose, Lot #SLBW7460) and citric acid (99.5%) were the products of Sigma Aldrich Inc. (St. Louis, MO, USA). Deionized water was used to prepare the solutions.

Banana Waste Adsorbents for Rare-Earth Removal

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
The adsorbents consisted of three banana (Musa Cavendish) waste materials: BR, BPS and BP, which were collected from a farm located in the south of Ecuador (3°14´S, 79°51´W). The materials were processed immediately after the fruit harvesting. They were washed, chopped in small pieces of about 2-4 cm 3 , dried into a forced air convection oven at 45 ºC, milled and sieved at particle size from 250 to 800 µm.
Finally, these particles in this fraction were air-dried (45ºC) and stored in plastic bottles for further experimentation. Neodymium (III) nitrate hexahydrate (Nd(NO3)3.6H2O, 99.9% Alfa Aesar), yttrium(III) oxide (Y2O3, 99.99%, Sigma Aldrich), europium(III) oxide (Eu2O3, 99.99%, Sigma Aldrich), dysprosium(III) nitrate pentahydrate (Dy(NO3).5H2O, 99.9%, Alfa Aesar) and terbium(III) chloride hexahydrate (TbCl3.6H2O, 99.99%, Alfa Aesar) were used to prepare the stock solutions. Milli-Q water was used to prepare all the solutions.

About PubCompare

Our mission is to provide scientists with the largest repository of trustworthy protocols and intelligent analytical tools, thereby offering them extensive information to design robust protocols aimed at minimizing the risk of failures.

We believe that the most crucial aspect is to grant scientists access to a wide range of reliable sources and new useful tools that surpass human capabilities.

However, we trust in allowing scientists to determine how to construct their own protocols based on this information, as they are the experts in their field.
