Recombinant mouse Lefty-1 and TGF-β1 were obtained from R&D Systems, Inc. (Minneapolis, MN, USA). Quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (PCR) kit was obtained from Hoffman-La Roche Ltd. (Basel, Switzerland), and Cell Counting Kit-8 (CCK)-8 and the cell cycle detection kit were acquired from MultiSciences Biotech Co., Ltd. (Hangzhou, Zhejiang, People’s Republic of China). Antibodies to fibronectin, collagen I(A1), glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase (GAPDH), bone morphogenetic protein (BMP)-5, and proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA) were obtained from Santa Cruz Biotechnology, Inc. (Dallas, TX, USA). α-SMA and cyclin D1 were obtained from Abcam plc (Cambridge, UK). All other antibodies used in this study were purchased from Cell Signaling Technology, Inc. (Danvers, MA, USA).
