Dulbecco’s modified Eagles medium with Hams F-12 nutrient mixture (DMEM/F12, 1:1) was purchased from Hyclone (South Logan, UT, USA). Fetal bovine serum (FBS) was obtained from ZETA Life (Menlo Park, CA, USA). The antibody against β-actin was purchased from Tianjin Sungene Biotechnology Inc. (Tianjin, China). The antibodies against ATF-6, P-IRE1α, EIF2S1, P-EIF2S1, ATF-4, GRP78, and LC3I/II were purchased from Abcam (Cambridge, MA, USA). The antibody against caspase-3 was obtained from Abclonal (Wuhan, China). Antibodies against poly (ADP-ribose) polymerase 1 (PARP-1) and Bax were purchased from Proteintech (Wuhan, China). Likewise, 3-Methyladenine (3-MA), chloroquine (CQ), and 4-phenylbutyric acid (4-PBA) were obtained from Sigma-Aldrich (St. Louis, MO, USA). The LDH cytotoxicity assay kit was purchased from Promega (Madison, WI, USA).

MTT powder (1-(4,5-Dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-3,5-diphenylformazan), rapamycin, METH powder, TRIZOL reagent, and RIPA buffer were purchased from Sigma-Aldrich (St. Louis, MO, USA). Staining reagents for AnnexinV and Caspase3/7 were obtained from Essen Bio (Ann Arbor, MI, USA). AnnexinV/PI apoptosis assay kit was purchased from BD Biosciences (San Diego, CA, USA). Antibodies against C/EBPβ, PI3K, Akt, mTOR, phosphorylated PI3K, phosphorylated Akt, Beclin1, LC3, Caspase3, Caspase7, and Bax were obtained from Cell Signaling Technology (Danvers, MA, USA). Anti-CHOP, anti-phosphorylated mTOR, anti-Bcl2, and anti-β-actin antibodies were purchased from Santa Cruz Biotechnology (Dallas, TX, USA). Antibodies against ATF6 were obtained from Abcam (Cambridge, UK). SYBR Premix Ex Taq was purchased from Takara (Shiga, Japan). The RT PreMix kit was obtained from Enzynomics (Daejeon, Korea). ECL Western blotting detection reagents were purchased from Thermo Fisher Scientific (Waltham, MA, USA).

All reagents used in this study were commercially available. aFGF was purchased from Key Laboratory of Biotechnology and Pharmaceutical Engineering, Zhejiang, China, and the In Situ Cell Death Detection Kit was purchased from Roche (South San Francisco, CA, USA). Foetal bovine serum and Dulbecco’s modified Eagle’s medium (DMEM) were purchased from Invitrogen (Carlsbad, CA, USA). Antibodies against ATF-6, ATF-4, GRP-78, PDI, XBP-1 and cleaved caspase 12 were purchased from Abcam (Cambridge, MA, USA). Anti-β-actin, CHOP, microtubule-associated protein 2 (MAP-2) and myelin basic protein (MBP) antibodies were purchased from Santa Cruz Biotechnology (Santa Cruz, CA, USA). Anti-cleaved caspase 3 antibody was purchased from Cell Signaling Technology (Danvers, MA, USA). The appropriate secondary antibodies were purchased from Abcam or Santa Cruz Biotechnology.
