HK2 cells are immortalized human renal proximal tubular cells cultured in DMEM with 10% fetal bovine serum. The experiments were conducted in Leibovitz's L-15 medium with no phenol red (Fisher, #21083027). L-15 was specifically designed for renal primary cell cultures.
