Alzet osmotic pump model 1002

Manufactured by Durect

The ALZET osmotic pump model-1002 is a laboratory device designed for continuous and controlled delivery of substances. It operates using an osmotic mechanism, delivering the substance at a predetermined, constant rate over an extended period of time.

PTH Delivery in Wild-type and MCP-1 Knockout Mice

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
Female wild-type and MCP-1−/− mice at 8 weeks of age (n = 10–14 per group) were randomly distributed to vehicle or treatment groups and continuously infused with vehicle (saline) or hPTH (1–34) at 80 μg/kg/day at a delivery rate of 0.25 µl/h for 2 weeks by surgically implanted ALZET osmotic pump model-1002 (DURECT corporation, CA) into the subcutaneous cavity of the mid-scapular region of mice following the manufacturer’s instructions. This age group was selected since it has previously been shown that peak trabecular bone mass is achieved at this age in C57/BL6 mice48 (link). Two doses of calcein (10 mg/kg) were given subcutaneously to all groups 2 and 7 days before death.

Cuprizone-Induced Remyelination and DAB Effects

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
To assess the extent of remyelination, a cuprizone model was used (Lindner et al., 2008; Gudi et al., 2014). A diet containing 0.2% (w/w) cuprizone mixed into milled chow pellets was given to 8‐week‐old male C57BL/6J mice for 6 weeks to induce demyelination in the corpus callosum (week 6). To induce remyelination, the mice were then fed a normal diet for additional 2 weeks. To determine the effect of DAB on remyelination, chronic intracerebroventricular administration of saline or DAB (10 μg/kg/day) was started at the point of change‐over to the normal diet (week 8 saline or week 8 DAB). Chronic DAB injection for 2 weeks into the right lateral ventricle (0.9 mm lateral, 0.3 mm posterior, and 2.5 mm below the skull) was performed by means of an osmotic infusion pump (Alzet Brain Infusion Kit 3, Alzet Osmotic pump model 1002; DURECT, Cupertino, CA).

About PubCompare

Our mission is to provide scientists with the largest repository of trustworthy protocols and intelligent analytical tools, thereby offering them extensive information to design robust protocols aimed at minimizing the risk of failures.

We believe that the most crucial aspect is to grant scientists access to a wide range of reliable sources and new useful tools that surpass human capabilities.

However, we trust in allowing scientists to determine how to construct their own protocols based on this information, as they are the experts in their field.
