8 μm polycarbonate filter

Manufactured by Corning
Sourced in United States

The 8-μm polycarbonate filter is a laboratory equipment product designed for filtration applications. It features a pore size of 8 micrometers and is made of polycarbonate material. The core function of this filter is to separate and retain particles or materials of a specific size from a liquid or gas sample.

Cell Migration and Invasion Assays

A wound-healing assay was used to examine cell migration. Briefly, A549 and PC-9 cells were frequently cultivated until they reached confluence, replacing the medium with serum-free DMEM medium, making wounds with a 10-μL pipette tip, and capturing phase-contrast microscopic images. The capacity to invade cells was assessed through a transwell assay as outlined earlier. Briefly, in a room comprising an 8-μm polycarbonate filter (Corning Life Sciences, Corning, NY, USA) covered with 30 μL of Matrigel (Corning Life Sciences), LUAD cells in 300 μL of serum-free medium were grown. Cells remaining on the upper membrane were removed with a cotton swab after incubating for 24 h, and cells penetrating the membrane were fixed with 4% formaldehyde and then stained for 20 min with 0.5% crystal violet. All statistical results were acquired from an average of three autonomous studies from five picture areas chosen at random.

Transwell Assay for Cell Migration

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
Cell migration was detected using a 24-well transwell plate (8 μm polycarbonate filter, Corning, USA, Cat 3422). Cells were seeded in the plate at a cell density of 3 × 105 cells/mL into the upper chamber with 100 μL per chamber, while 600 μL of DMEM containing 10% FBS was added into the lower chamber. After incubation for 24 hr, cells on the upper surfaces of upper chambers were removed with cotton-tipped swabs, and cells migrated to the lower surface were fixed in formaldehyde for 20 min and then stained with crystal violet staining solution (Beyotime, China, Cat Co121-100ml) and counted.

About PubCompare

Our mission is to provide scientists with the largest repository of trustworthy protocols and intelligent analytical tools, thereby offering them extensive information to design robust protocols aimed at minimizing the risk of failures.

We believe that the most crucial aspect is to grant scientists access to a wide range of reliable sources and new useful tools that surpass human capabilities.

However, we trust in allowing scientists to determine how to construct their own protocols based on this information, as they are the experts in their field.
