Aspergillus Galactomannan Detection in BALF

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
BALF Aspergillus GM was determined by the Platelia EIA (Bio-Rad Laboratories, Munich, Germany) in clinical routine at the Medical Clinic of the Research Center Borstel, Germany according to the manufacturer’s instructions. BALF samples were processed in accordance to the manufactures protocol. While our analysis primarily focused on the recommended 1.0 ODI cut-off for BALF, we also evaluated a 0.5 GM ODI cut-off, following previous evidence that the 0.5 ODI cut off is preferable in patients on mold-active antifungals (Eigl et al., 2015 (link), 2017 (link)).

Quantifying Fungal Biomarkers in BALF

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
GM concentrations of BALF were determined routinely by the Platelia EIA (Bio-Rad Laboratories) in our clinical laboratory. The optical density (OD) index cutoff of 1.0 was applied to the evaluation of diagnostic performance for the GM tests (34 (link)). The BDG tests with BALF were carried out according to the manufacturer’s instructions. The average rate of OD change for all points between 0 and 40 min was interpolated with the results of standard curve to determine the amount of BDG (35 (link)). Negative and positive controls were included in each run of the assays.

About PubCompare

Our mission is to provide scientists with the largest repository of trustworthy protocols and intelligent analytical tools, thereby offering them extensive information to design robust protocols aimed at minimizing the risk of failures.

We believe that the most crucial aspect is to grant scientists access to a wide range of reliable sources and new useful tools that surpass human capabilities.

However, we trust in allowing scientists to determine how to construct their own protocols based on this information, as they are the experts in their field.
