Serum Biomarker Profiling Protocol

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
Serum cholesterol, high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol, serum triglycerides, glucose, albumin, and insulin concentrations were analyzed by conventional methods in a Roche Modular Analytics P800 system (ROCHE DIAGNOSTICS, Basel, Switzerland).

Serum PON1 Activity and Concentration

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
Serum PON1 paraoxonase activity was determined as the rate of hydrolysis of paraoxon at 410 nm and 37°C in a 0.05 mM glycine buffer, pH 10.5 with 1 mM CaCl2 [25 (link)]. Activities were expressed as U/L (1 U = 1 μmol of paraoxon hydrolyzed per minute). Serum PON1 concentrations were determined by in-house ELISA with rabbit polyclonal antibodies generated against the synthetic peptide CRNHQSSYQTRLNALREVQ which is a sequence specific for mature PON1 [26 (link),27 (link)]. Serum alanine aminotransferase (ALT) and aspartate amino transferase (AST) activities, and lipid profile were analyzed by standard tests in a Roche Modular Analytics P800 system (Roche Diagnostics, Basel, Switzerland).

Comprehensive Metabolic and Hematological Profiling

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
Hematological analysis was performed using an ABX Pentra 60 hematology system (Horiba Medical). For biochemical analysis, serum alanine aminotransferase (ALAT), aspartate aminotransferase (ASAT), glucose, total cholesterol (TC), high density lipoprotein-cholesterol (HDL-c) and triglycerides (TG) were measured on a Modular Analytics P-800 system (Roche Diagnostics). Low density lipoprotein-cholesterol (LDL-c) was calculated applying the Friedewald calculation. Serum insulin and C-peptide were measured on an Immulite 2500 automated system (Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics). High-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hsCRP) was measured using a multiplex array (Meso Scale Discovery). TIgE was measured by ELISA, as previously described [16 (link)]. HOMA-IR was calculated as fasting insulin (mU/L) x fasting glucose (mmol/L)/22.5.

About PubCompare

Our mission is to provide scientists with the largest repository of trustworthy protocols and intelligent analytical tools, thereby offering them extensive information to design robust protocols aimed at minimizing the risk of failures.

We believe that the most crucial aspect is to grant scientists access to a wide range of reliable sources and new useful tools that surpass human capabilities.

However, we trust in allowing scientists to determine how to construct their own protocols based on this information, as they are the experts in their field.
