Xpert mtb rif xpert assay

Manufactured by Cepheid
Sourced in United States

The Xpert MTB/RIF (Xpert) assay is a rapid molecular diagnostic test designed to detect Mycobacterium tuberculosis (MTB) and identify resistance to rifampicin (RIF) directly from a patient's sputum sample. The assay utilizes real-time PCR technology to provide qualitative results within a short timeframe.

Xpert MTB/RIF Assay Optimization

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
The Xpert MTB/RIF (Xpert) assay was performed according to the manufacturer's instructions (Cepheid). Four of the specimens were not examined. Two of the samples were found to contain non-tuberculosis mycobacteria by MALDI-TOF, and thus we skipped the Xpert experiments, because non-tuberculosis mycobacteria do not produce MPT64 [29 (link),30 (link)]. The other two samples were the same as those identified as different samples, and thus we also skipped the Xpert experiments for these samples. Furthermore, Xpert could not be applied when the sputum volume of the specimen was too low.

Comprehensive Tuberculosis Evaluation

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
A pus specimen collected during the operation from each patient was subjected to smear microscopy, culture, and Xpert MTB/RIF (Xpert) assay (Cepheid, Sunnyvale USA), while a tissue specimen was subjected to histopathology examination, simultaneously. Drug susceptibility testing (DST) was conducted for all the recovered isolates.

About PubCompare

Our mission is to provide scientists with the largest repository of trustworthy protocols and intelligent analytical tools, thereby offering them extensive information to design robust protocols aimed at minimizing the risk of failures.

We believe that the most crucial aspect is to grant scientists access to a wide range of reliable sources and new useful tools that surpass human capabilities.

However, we trust in allowing scientists to determine how to construct their own protocols based on this information, as they are the experts in their field.
