Nude mice

Seven-week-old female BALB/c nude mice were purchased from SLC japan and maintained in a accordance with guidelines and approval of Institutional Review Committees for Animal Care and Use, Korea Research Institute of Bioscience and Biotechnology (KRIBB-AEC-14024). 786-O and 786-VHL (WT and V155A) cells were transduced with adenoviral vectors (Ad.shUCP and Ad.shCont) at 200 MOI for 24 h. And then cells (10⁷) are transplanted by subcutaneous injection into nude mice (Japan SLC, Inc.). Tumor size was measured for 44 days by following procedure, as reported previously [23 (link), 24 (link)].

Nude mice (females, 6 weeks of age) were obtained from Japan SLC Inc (Shizuoka, Japan). Cells were co-injected with ExomiR-Tracker ([anti-miR] = 300 nM) subcutaneously (5 × 10⁶ cells/100 uL PBS/mouse) into the back of Nude mice (n = 6). The tumor sizes were monitored weekly by measuring the diameters using vernier calipers and calculated as πls²/6, where l is the long side and s is the short side.

BALB/c, C57BL/6, and nude mice were obtained from Japan SLC. NSG mice (#: 005557) with the NOD-SCID genetic background and carrying a null allele of the Il2rg gene were obtained from Charles River Laboratories (Japan). Il13^-/- BALB/c mice were provided by The Medical Research Council (Cambridge, UK)^{36 (link)}. A 3-month HFD model was achieved by feeding mice a dietary chow consisting of 60% kcal fat (Research Diets D12492) beginning at the age of 8 weeks and extending for a period of 5 months. All mice were allowed ad libitum access to food and water and were maintained in specific pathogen-free conditions in a 22 °C temperature-controlled room with a 12 h light-12 h dark cycle. Humidity was maintained in the range of 40–70%. All mice were male. Unless otherwise noted, all mice were BALB/c and used for experiments at 6–8 weeks of age. The research protocols were approved by the ethics committee for animals at Chiba University (registration number: 3-161, 1-68).
