Transwell assay kit

Manufactured by BD
Sourced in United States

The Transwell assay kit is a laboratory equipment designed to study cell migration and invasion. It consists of a membrane-containing insert that is placed in a well, allowing cells to migrate or invade through the membrane. The kit facilitates the assessment of cell behavior and responses in a controlled, in vitro environment.

Cell Proliferation and Invasion Assays

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
The cell proliferation was measured using CellTiter-Glo Luminescent Cell Viability Assay kit (Promega, Madison, WI, USA). The invasion assay was performed using transwell assay kit purchased from BD Biosciences (Bedford, MA, USA). For more details, please see the Supplement of “Materials and Methods”.

Transwell Assay for Cell Invasion

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
A transwell assay kit (BD Biosciences) was used to measure cell invasion. A Matrigel of 5 mg/L was coated on the upper surface of the basement membrane of the transwell chambers. After air‐drying at room temperature, the basement membrane was hydrated with a serum‐free culture solution of 1% BSA (Sigma), and the upper layer was inoculated with cells (1 × 105/ml). DMEM containing 5% FBS was added to the lower layer. After culturing with DMSO or the drugs at 1, 6, and 10 μM for 24 h, cotton swabs erased the upper layer cells and 4% paraformaldehyde fixed the lower layer cells for HE staining.

Transwell Assay for Cell Migration and Invasion

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
Cell migratory and invasive abilities were detected with the Transwell assay kit (BD Biosciences). A total of 1 × 105 cells were suspended in 200 μl serum-free medium and seeded in the upper compartment of the Transwell insert. Then, 500 μl of growth medium was added to the lower chambers as a chemoattractant. After 24 h, cells were fixed with 4% paraformaldehyde, and migratory cells on the underside were stained with 0.1% crystal violet. Cells in five random fields of view were counted under the DC 300F phase-contrast microscope (Leica, Wetzlar, Germany).

About PubCompare

Our mission is to provide scientists with the largest repository of trustworthy protocols and intelligent analytical tools, thereby offering them extensive information to design robust protocols aimed at minimizing the risk of failures.

We believe that the most crucial aspect is to grant scientists access to a wide range of reliable sources and new useful tools that surpass human capabilities.

However, we trust in allowing scientists to determine how to construct their own protocols based on this information, as they are the experts in their field.
