Biogenic TiO2 Nanoparticle Synthesis

All agents were analytical grade and used without further purification. L-Arginine, L-Cysteine, and Tyzor LA-Lactid acid chelated titanate (Ti-BALDH) were purchased from Macklin (Shanghai, China). Phenol and other chemicals were obtained from Macklin (Shanghai, China). Using Ti-BALDH as raw material, bio-TiO2 NPs were prepared by the bionic dehydrating method [31 (link)]. Briefly, 0.0053 g L-Arginine powder and 0.01 g L-Cysteine were dissolved in 20 mL deionized water and adjusted to pH 7 with concentrated nitric acid. After stirring for 15 min, 200 μL Ti-BALDH (0.294 wt%) was dropped into the mixture and stirred for another 20 min, forming slight white turbidity. To synthesize bio-TiO2/Algae complex, 0.0053 g L-Arginine powder, and 0.01 g L-Cysteine were dissolved in 20 mL T. obliquus suspensions and stirred for 15 min. After adding 200 μL Ti-BALDH (0.294 wt%) and stirring for another 20 min, slight white turbidity was formed.

Dialysis Characterization of Biomolecules

GelNB-loaded molecular weight 3500 Da dialysis bags with deionized water were sealed by clips and immersed in 500 mL of d-Glucose (Meilunbio, China), l-arginine (Sangon Biotech, China), l-glutamic acid (Macklin, China), l-tryptophan (Macklin), glycine (Macklin), l-glutamine (Macklin), l-cysteine (Macklin), or Ringer's solution, respectively. Ethanol, zinc nitrate hexahydrate (Zn(NO3)2·6H2O, 99%), cobalt nitrate hydrate (Co(NO3)2·6H2O, 99%), dibasic sodium phosphate (Na2HPO4) and 2-methylimidazole (C4H6N2, 98%) were obtained from Adamas (Shanghai, China). All of the chemicals were used without further purification. The water used in the experiments was obtained from a Milli-Q system (18.2 MΩ cm−1).

Chemical shift values (δ) were listed in ppm and the coupling constant values (J) are in Hertz. The morphology of the freeze-dried hydrogel was observed by scanning electron microscope. The release properties were investigated by UV spectrophotometer.
