Achieva 7t mr system

Manufactured by Philips
Sourced in Netherlands, United States

The Achieva 7T MR system is a high-field magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scanner manufactured by Philips. It operates at a field strength of 7 Tesla, which is significantly higher than the standard 1.5 or 3 Tesla MRI systems commonly used in clinical settings. The Achieva 7T MR system is designed for advanced research applications, providing enhanced image resolution and signal-to-noise ratio compared to lower field strength MRI systems.

This study was performed using an actively shielded Philips Achieva 7T MR system (Philips Healthcare, Best, the Netherlands) equipped with a two-channel volume transmit head coil with a 32-channel receiver array (Nova Medical Inc., Burlington, MA, USA). The scanner was installed at the Danish Research Centre for Magnetic Resonance, Copenhagen University Hospital Hvidovre. We used 3D based B1+ scaling, which greatly reduced the spatially varying inhomogeneities [26 ]. This improved tumour–tissue contrast, particularly in the temporal regions, which, in turn, provided a better basis for the placement of MRS voxels on 3D FLAIR images (see Section 2.3). On top of the B1+ scaling, we applied dielectric pads (size: 19 cm × 19 cm, Multiwave Technologies Ltd., Geneva, Switzerland) on both sides of the head to further minimize B1+-induced inhomogeneities. We also used interleaved volumetric fat-navigator-based prospective motion correction for the structural sequences [27 (link)], which reduced the need for re-scans and thus also patient discomfort caused by prolonged scan duration.

High-Field MRI Systems for Research

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
All studies were performed on magnetic field strengths ranging from 4 T to 11.7 T. The clinical 4 T MR system is interfaced to a Bruker Avance III HD spectrometer, running on Paravision 6 (Bruker Biospin Corporation, Billerica, MA, USA) and equipped with gradients capable of switching 30 mT/m in 1150 μs. The clinical Achieva 7 T MR system (Philips, Cleveland, OH, USA) comprises a whole-body magnet and gradients capable of switching 40 mT/m in 200 μs. The preclinical 9.4 T and 11.7 T systems are interfaced to Bruker Avance III HD spectrometers, running on Paravision 6 (Bruker Biospin Corporation, Billerica, MA, USA) and equipped with gradients capable of switching 300 mT/m in 150 μs.

About PubCompare

Our mission is to provide scientists with the largest repository of trustworthy protocols and intelligent analytical tools, thereby offering them extensive information to design robust protocols aimed at minimizing the risk of failures.

We believe that the most crucial aspect is to grant scientists access to a wide range of reliable sources and new useful tools that surpass human capabilities.

However, we trust in allowing scientists to determine how to construct their own protocols based on this information, as they are the experts in their field.
