Mirvana mirnas

Manufactured by Thermo Fisher Scientific
Sourced in United States

The MirVana™miRNAs is a product line of reagents and kits designed for the isolation and purification of microRNAs (miRNAs) from various biological samples. The core function of the MirVana™miRNAs is to enable efficient extraction and recovery of miRNAs, which are small, non-coding RNA molecules involved in the regulation of gene expression.

miRNA and siRNA Transfection in LX-2 Cells

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
For miRNA and small interfering RNA (siRNA) transfections, 6 × 104 LX-2 cells were plated on a 24-well plate and incubated overnight under regular growth conditions. Next, miR-1914-5p mimic or inhibitor (mirVana™miRNAs, Thermo Fisher Scientific, USA) and MLYCD-siRNA and ACSL4-siRNA or their Non-targeting Pool (OnTarget Plus siRNA – Smart Pools – Dharmacon/GE Health Care, USA) were transfected into cells, according to Silva et al. (2016) (link). At 48 h after transfection, cells were collected for further investigation.

Enhancing Muscle Function in Muscular Dystrophy

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
For gain- and loss-of-function analysis, mice were anesthetized by using isoflurane, 2% to 5% inhaled, to a surgical plane of anaesthesia. Twenty-four C57BL/6, 15 mdx, and eight DBA2J/mdx mice were injected in each in each TA muscle with 50 μL of cardiotoxin solution (CTX; 10 μM) together with 11.55 μg of mirVana miRNAs (Thermo). This dose is equivalent to 0.57 mg per kg body weight.33 (link) Negative Control #1 Inhibitor (4464077) was used as Scramble, hsa-miR-106b-5p mimic (4464067) was used as premiR-106b and hsa-miR-106b-5p inhibitor (4464085) was used as antimiR-106b. Finally, an exhaustion treadmill trial was performed to evaluate the endurance of treated 4-month-old male mdx mice (and C57BL/6 mice were used as controls) fusing a motorized treadmill (Panlab Treadmills) supplied with a shocker plate as described previously.34 (link) The treadmill was run at 0° of inclination at 5 m/min for 5 min; subsequently, the speed was increased 1 m/min every minute. The test ended when the mouse remained more than 20 s on the shocker plate.

About PubCompare

Our mission is to provide scientists with the largest repository of trustworthy protocols and intelligent analytical tools, thereby offering them extensive information to design robust protocols aimed at minimizing the risk of failures.

We believe that the most crucial aspect is to grant scientists access to a wide range of reliable sources and new useful tools that surpass human capabilities.

However, we trust in allowing scientists to determine how to construct their own protocols based on this information, as they are the experts in their field.
