Coated tube ria

Manufactured by DiaSorin
Sourced in Italy

The Coated tube RIA is a laboratory equipment used for radioimmunoassay (RIA) analysis. It provides a platform for the detection and quantification of specific analytes in a sample. The core function of the Coated tube RIA is to facilitate the antigen-antibody reaction and subsequent measurement of the radioactive signal, which is proportional to the concentration of the target analyte.

Testosterone and SHBG Measurement in Hypogonadism

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
Testosterone was measured using coated tube RIA (DiaSorin S. p. A., Salluggia, Italy and Diagnostic Products Corporation, LA) and SHBG with chemiluminescent immunoassay method (Immulite 2000 Analyzer, Siemens Healthcare, Erlangen, Germany). Low levels of total testosterone were defined as testosterone serum levels of less than 11.0 nmol/L [26 (link)]. Hypogonadism was defined as testosterone deficiency with clinical signs of hypogonadism.

Testosterone Measurement and Calculation

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
Total testosterone levels were measured by coated tube RIA (DiaSorin S. p. A., Salluggia, Italy and Diagnostic Products Corporation, Los Angeles, CA, USA, respectively). Within and between assays, coefficients of variation for testosterone were 1.05 and 5.75%. Sex hormone-binding globulin (SHBG), luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) were determined with a chemiluminescent immunoassay (Immulite 2000 XPi Analyzer; Siemens Healthcare). Within and between assays, coefficients of variation for the applied method ranged from 1.2 to 4.0% and 1.8 to 4.3%. Calculated free testosterone (cFT) and bioavailable testosterone were derived from the calculator at http://www.issam.ch/freetesto.htm (accessed 7/10/2018) (17 (link)).

Comprehensive Metabolic and Hormonal Analysis

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
Plasma glucose and Glycosylated hemoglobin were measured by the glucose oxidase method and anion exchange high-performance liquid chromatography, respectively. Insulin was measured by radioimmunoassay using human insulin as standard (Institute of Atomic Energy, China). Free fatty acid (FFA) was measured with a commercial kit (Randox Laboratories, Antrim, UK). Total cholesterol (TC), HDL-C, low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), and triglyceride (TG) were analyzed enzymatically using an autoanalyzer (Hitachi, Tokyo, Japan). Plasma level of ADI was also measured by ELISA as we previously described.[12 (link)] Serum hormonal concentrations including LH, follicle- stimulating hormone (FSH), and testosterone (TEST) were measured with well-established electrochemi-luminescence immunoassay using COBAS E immunoassay analyzers (Roche Diagnostics GmbH). Total TEST levels were measured by coated tube RIA (DiaSorin, S.p.A, Salluggia, Italy). Dehydroepiandrosterone sulfate (DHEA-S) and sex hormone-binding globulin (SHBG) were performed using an automated analyzer (Abbott Architect; Abbott Laboratories, Abbott Park, IL). Free androgen index (FAI) was calculated as FAI = (TEST/SHBG) × 100.

Hormonal and Metabolic Profiling in PCOS

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
Blood samples were collected in the early-follicular phase (day 3 to 5 of the menstrual cycle) in the control group. Blood samples were collected after a spontaneous bleeding episode or upon first examination in PCOS women. Plasma glucose and HbA1c were measured by the glucose oxidase method and anion exchange high-performance liquid chromatography, respectively. Insulin was measured by radioimmunoassay using human insulin as standard (Institute of Atomic Energy, China). Free fatty acid (FFA) was measured with a commercial kit (Randox Laboratories, Antrim, U.K.). TC, HDL-C, LDL-C, and triglyceride were analyzed enzymatically using an autoanalyzer (Hitachi, Tokyo, Japan). Serum hormonal concentrations including LH, FSH, testosterone and Prog, PRL and E2 were measured with well-established electrochemi-luminescence immunoassay using COBAS E immunoassay analyzers (Roche Diagnostics GmbH). Total testosterone levels were measured by coated tube RIA (DiaSorin, S.p.A, Salluggia, Italy). DHEA-S and SHBG were performed using an automated analyzer (Abbott Architect; Abbott Laboratories, Abbott Park, IL). FAI was calculated as FAI = (testosterone/SHBG) ×100.

About PubCompare

Our mission is to provide scientists with the largest repository of trustworthy protocols and intelligent analytical tools, thereby offering them extensive information to design robust protocols aimed at minimizing the risk of failures.

We believe that the most crucial aspect is to grant scientists access to a wide range of reliable sources and new useful tools that surpass human capabilities.

However, we trust in allowing scientists to determine how to construct their own protocols based on this information, as they are the experts in their field.
